Problems with Alone in the Dark

Hi, everyone!
I am running Alone in the Dark and have a problem I just cannot solve: how can I make my character to run? With arrow keys I can just make it walk, and I found that I should press arrow key twice and it will start running. But no use, it just won't work (the damn character keeps walking slowly). Any suggestions?

Okay, this message is old, but I just finished Alone in the dark 1, so while I'm waiting for someone to upload sequel, I might just as well give the answer. You have a correct information about running, you need to tap forward key twice. The problem is in speed of today's computers, so you have to be very fast to manage this! It will work every 10th time though. So you can finish game faster on slower computer :P .

Dunno what you mean as "first stage"....

However, first thing to do is push the wardrobe in front of the window, so the floating monster can't reach you.
Then push the trunk above the trapdoor. You'll now be safe (for a while :twisted: ).
Search the piano for Jeremy's suicide letter, then the cupboards to find a book. Be sure to open the wardrobe and get the carpet, and don't forget to pick up the lamp.

Go now downstairs, get the bow and the petrol....I forgot to say that there's a shotgun in the trunk, sorry.

You'll be now in a corridor...well, just don't trust the floor...
I got seriously scared the very first time I tried to cross it....but hey I was 9 or 10 at the time.

Well, now try to find the rest by yourself, or you'll lose the fun of it.

Just remember: Medusas' gaze can kill, but what if it is reverted :wink: ?

Thanks for ur response. But I have completed that much part of the stage on my own. I need the help when searching for a note downstairs, the rooms door get locked by itself. Then a big moster came... and u know what happended then. It killed me again and again. Is there any cheat code available.
