Sierra is releasing tribes to the public for abandonware, it is fully patched legit, but you must download the single player also on the website to get the full experience.

i just read alot of stuff and i can not check to see if it's legit, but it seems as though it is, Since they re-released it as Tribes:ReVengeance

I have to agree with Russ here, it just doesn't look right.

well yes, but that would mean that it is not freeware of course. abandonware is different. it is for software that the company doesn't care about. and if there's a whole domain with free tribes for download, i don't know what's more abandonned than that

The game was released on a cover disc of a Polish games magazine - and, for obvious reasons, they could not include CD-keys with the mag itself.
To get a valid CD-key, the users had to register at the magazine's website and request one from a generator there. Obviously, some people figured they might take advantage of that (not the first time either - previous such incidents are the reason why only Polish IP adresses are allowed).

Anyway... Nope, not legit.
