Hello fellas... I have no music to share, but for me i'st quite interesting to find out what kind of music you prefer.
Write your prefered genre/s and maybe a short reason why you hear this music.
For me: Spirituals+Metal (Soulfly, D-Low, Sceaux) and some heavier music (Slipknot, Metallica). But also classics like Wagner, Mozart,...
I prefer that music, because for me it's the best way to express yourself and to relax. There is a special spirit in the way of playing and singing which makes me feel... yes... feel like... I don't know... a godgiven thing.
Don't be shy and post

Anything, really, except J-pop (I just don't know how to appreciate that) and terror-core and the likes. All those things that go: "TSJEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! OONKOONKOONK! TSJEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! OONKOONKOONK! TSJEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! OONKOONKOONK! TSJEEEEETSJEEEEEEETSJEEEEEEEEE! OONKOONKOONK!" are so bloody annoying.
Besides that, I can appreciate some old rock (Lynyrd Skynyrd, ZZTop, Guns'n Roses, etc), some punk (Ramones -live, otherwise they suck-, Husker Du, etc), Surf (Dick Dale, anybody?), Videogame remixes (some're amazing, like Floaf's remix of the game Trolls, or that one from The New Zealand Story - Look At Little Kiwikiwi - and several others), classical music, humpapa, 50s stuff (Bert Kaempfert, Perez Prado, etc), uhhhmmm... what else... some rap (XZibbit, but not his street period. He just plain sucks then, Two Life Crew, etc)... I think that kinda sums it all up. Could be that I forgot some, though, but you get the drift.

Anything, right now im into underground hiphop the lyrics are much better than commercial hip hop where they just rap about women, cars, and bling bling. Other than that i can listen to pretty much everything, rock, punk, techno, trip hop. Depends what mood im in, but every type of music has its pros and cons.
most rock, 80's music in general, most metal including nu-metal

Rock, metal and punk. But I'm willing to try anything new, recently got into the crash test dummies which are sort of soft rock/folk in my opinion.

Didn't hear it? Then I guess I really outdone myself. So far it's the only movie I know of that has no soundtrack what soever - there are only a few soundeffects even - otherwise it's just talk. It's a great movie - sort of a serious remake of Dr. Strangelove, but it was made into a TV play - best thing that featured George Cloney, of other actorrs I'll just mention Richard Dreyfuss (can't remember anyone else right now) *runs off to find the VHS*

I used to listen to metal, but when it entered the Nu-Metal phase, it got really old really fast.

I love Goth and New Age, sometimes genres these have a lot of flavour and power and a spiritual feel. And also Electronic - if it's dynamic. I liked the kind of music that was in The Matrix Reloaded - was that House or Electronic? Also rock if it's melodic - the kind of thing Led Zep or Yes or Heart might do. Don't like anything bland or C & W or jazz.

First of all: Frank Zappa! Plus: King Crimson, Pink Floyd, The Doors, Jimi Hendrix, Al Di Meola, John McLaghlin, Stivie-Ray Vaughan, and more... Also Rammstein, NIN, KMFDM, System of a Down. And there are a few new favorites thanks to my friend's monotonic music-listening-style: Insane Clown Posse, Electric Six, MOP and I almost forgot Bob Marley!
I wanted to look for the thread of uploading, but I couldn't leave without a post.

I mostly listen to metal, especially the more symphonic types (which I think has something to do with my concert band days :D ). Usually I listen to power metal, especially, Blind Guardian, Nightwish, and Kamelot, but I also love bands from other genres, like Finntroll, Ensiferum, Tristania, After Forever, Within Temptation, Immortal, Sepultura, etc.
But I like other genres as well, especially soundtrack music, musicals, and the occasional classical music. I'm really falling in love with Medieval and Renaissance music, so I'm on the lookout for CDs with music from that period. Mediaeval Baebes rock my sock, as does Loreena McKennitt. Outside of those I don't usually listen to the stuff that plays on the local radio ('cept CBC, which is Canada's nationwide radio and plays all kinds of music). But it's hard for me to say that I hate a certain genre, because every time I do that I find a band or song from that genre I don't mind, or even like. Heck, I've even enjoyed Bluegrass once or twice in my life.

Ever heard of Circulus? They play a weird mixture of medieval music and more modern rock, really hard to describe but really neat. Their website says "imagine what it would be like if you were to accidentally slip into a medieval future when you thought it was 1972. You would probably feel as lost as we do, but there is no turning back."
Check it out: http://www.circulus.org/home.html

I love too Medieval music. Tuatha De Danann a Brazilian Band I recommend. I love how they combine the medieval music with the rock guitars.

I see that most of you don't know much but 3 maybe 4 music genres to begin with... Ever heard of:
Ska, Raggae, Ethno, Jazz, Blues, Coutry, Soul, Latino (no, I'm not talking of the "latino" stars like J.Lo, but of music like Salsa, Samba, Mambo, Rhumba,...), Operetas, Operas, Ballets, Marches, Rag-Time, Swing, Dixiland,... and many many more.

Erm, okay then. Outside of Gilbert and Sullivan I don't listen to that many operettas, and I'm only familiar with a fewselections of opera, and those are the ones I've sung in classical voice lessons. I'm familiar with a few ballets, and I especially like Tchaikovsky and Stravinski. As far as classical music goes I tend to go either for early baroque works, or else the more contemporary 20th century stuff such as Satie and Debussy.
I occasionally like some of the jazz my mom listens to, and I tap-dance to quite a bit of swing. Erm, suffice to say country doesn't appeal to my personal tastes, although I respect bluegrass players because at least it takes a fair bit of talent and skill to do all that fast picking (my dad plays bluegrass).
While I am familiar with a number of those genres, I don't really listen to them on a regular basis. And neither do the majority of people, I'm guessing. It would take ages to compile a list of different music genres together, and many people wouldn't know what you are talking about. If, for example, I were to start talking about Humppa, I would be extremely unlikely to get a response other than "huh?"

LOL Please, don't... :D
I don't know how to describe my taste for music. I listen to something from almost any genre I can think of, but inside the genres I'm very selective. Genrewise I listen to almost anything from Jean Sibelius to Napalm Death, but on some genres there are just two or three bands out of ~50 I know that I like, but I can't think of any major genre of music from which I wouldn't like anything.
I think I mostly listen to older rock (a very wide categorization, but I really can't describe it anyway else) from 60's to 80's. Van Halen, Led Zeppelin, Hendrix.. Pink Floyd, maybe even Emerson, Lake & Palmer. Creedence Clearwater Revival, Herman's Hermits, etc. etc... And let's not forget about The Beatles! They're pure genius..
I also listen a lot to Finnish rock bands from the 80's and early 90's like Eppu Normaali, Sielun Veljet, Hassisen Kone, Juice Leskinen, Kolmas Nainen etc.. These probably won't say anything to a lot of you, so that'll be enough.
I actually happen to play in a band that plays something that mixes that kind of rock, funk and maybe some hiphop even.
Ok, I think that's a long enough post for now.

I listen to a lot of stuff, from many different genres.
But my main likes are punk and hardcore punk (this includes some metalcore, emo and screamo, although these two are basically the same thing when you consider a certain meaning of emo).
The whole reason I like punk is because of Pennywise, they opened the door to me about 7 years ago. Although I'm starting to get a little bored punk.
The whole reason I like hardcore is because of Time In Malta, I liked one hardcore band before them, but if I listened to other hardcore bands I didn't like the sound or agression, and then Time In Malta came along and showed me how great hardcore music can be.
And now the reason I'm getting bored of regular punk is because of a band called A Wilhelm Scream, they took the normal basic punk sound frenzied it up with psychotic guitar work, they made every song they wrote much more interesting with their disordered song structures, their work is very unique, they took a massive risk and pulled it off, every song is just pure brilliance. I'll never see punk the same again.
