Wow, I never thought that I would see this game again!
I actually played this game at school when I was in my younger days as we were one of the few lucky school to possess a computer garden in the old DOS days. Knowing this game very well, I can say that it is a perfect learning tool for little kids in the early school years.
Learn while having fun, the best way to learn. :)

This was one of the first games I ever played.
My Dad thought it would be great for my maths skills (they suck), instead it got me into computer games.
All I can say is, thanks Dad!

It seems, for some it is best to have fun while learning, others will be distracted by the fun.

Wow! It's been YEARS I've looking for this game. I played it on school when I was a child. I'm talking about 1992. The game was translated to catalan, though.

If you don't know how to use Dosbox then have a look at this guide, take the time to read it all. Dosbox Guide (http://www.abandonia.com/vbullet/showthread.php?t=14406) Then enjoy your game.

Thanks for your efforts,
I used D-fend Reloaded to run this game, but I reach a command prompt screen that looks as shown below. Note that: (Other games such as Robotron:2084 would run easily on D-fend Reloaded).+ ( I also followed the DosBox steps described previously).
This is what appears on the screen.(whatever I type it says syntax error):
The compaq personal computer BASIC

how to run the game[/color]"]Use RUN.BAT to start the game
The things you describe happen when you run with basica.exe, run the game with run.bat
Or if you absolutely want to complicate things run the game with :
basica castle

Again thanks for your efforts,
After running run.bat, a window says that cmd can't operate in fullscreen, then it says that NTVDM.exe stopped working!
I tried running it as adminstrator, too.
In addition, I tried to start it from the ms-dos window, and it says: basica is not recognized as internal or external command, operable program or batch file.

Nope, not good, not good at all.... :(
You try to run a game designed to run in an obsolete OS in a modern OS, that can't be good, and yeah, can't work.
Luckily for you there are solutions.
Best, and highly advised, is dosbox.
Run the game in dosbox and all your problems will vanish.
Some readings for you to get your game running:
