I really don't get the actual reason to put this request when you already have a review, solution, manual and a game download link.

Or perhaps...hmm..no, it can't be.. :tomato:

The Reason is I dont want to wait 30 Minutes to download it on my 56k (sad aint it). Plus it adds another game to the Adventure Section of Abandonia (Which I dont really like for some dark reason or another :sneaky: But i love this game)

Hi,

I remember a little old game about the ancient Rome. I forgot its name and the year and everything about it without its content:

You were a roman guy, who wants to become Emperor or Caesar. And to make your way up to this high office, you had to kill several enemies (I think some enemy senators or so (?)) an fight a little fight in egypt with some roman troops against some others (dont´t remember if these were romans or egypts...).

Can you help me find this game and make it playable once more? Do you know its name or anything about? :help:

Thanks for everything!

How old is the game and for what system?

Could it be (older titles) Hannibal, Caesar, Annals of Rome etc.

I think there is a Centurian (or close) game on this site that you can see screen shots of. That might be it.

I think you are thinking of "Rome: Pathway to Power"

You start off as a slave and must work your way up to Emperor. You lead a Roman Legion in Egypt eventually (With success leading to promotion and a certain Egyptian queen's royal affections). Most of the game is spent in Rome running around, doing quests, playing dice and knifing your rivals. Its pretty fun, and can be found on that OTHER abandon ware gaming site.

After a short time I am now called Emperor of Rome. My destiny now is: to rule the world.

The game is still funny. Maybe anyone of you will enloy it too.

Rome: Pathway to Power - ESA protected according to Oldwarez List. HOTU has it however listed under a developer and publisher not present on the list of ESA companies.

HOTU is NOT a reliable source, so I guess I'll close this now that an answer has been provided.

Dave

This game was made for Dos, so it's likely that you'll need DosBox to run it under Xp.

Rome: Pathway to Power (http://www.mobygames.com/game/dos/rome-pathway-to-power) (a.k.a. Rome: A.D. 92) (1993)
Published by Millennium Interactive (http://www.abandonia.com/en/company/Millennium+Interactive+Ltd.) (Not ESA member) & Maxis (http://www.abandonia.com/en/company/Maxis+Software+Inc.) (ESA member, 10 years of protection)
Developed by Firstlight (Dead company)

There are only used copies at Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/Rome-Pathway-to-Power/dp/B00067CKBO/ref=cm_lmf_tit_22).

Our Oldwarez list says it was published & Developed by Electronic Arts and I think it's wrong.
Mobygames, Wikipedia and other Abandonware sites confirmed what I have just written above.

I would say approved.

You meant "what the *meep* is the language the whole topic is written in"

Please Joel, try to write a little better...it's hard for us to understand what you are asking for.
Thanks

Hey everyone :)

I remember... when i be a child many years ago, playing this adventure semi strategy.. mostly adventure game.
It was based in roman time.

You started out as a slave on some island/city? doing a errand.
Soon as you start or a minute after? a volcano on this island/city starts erupting
(pompeij maybe? :D), and you race to the shore and grab a boat to rome.

After this, your free start buying your own slaves, going to the "collsieum" to fight and bet. Then eventually assasinate the caeser or city emperor? i remember being a "captain" of sorts, and being sent out to defend against barbarians(hence the tactical part).
And it's not any of the caeser/centurion games i've found here.

It's probably very old, 8bit type graphics with traditional graphicly drawn "cutscenes".

I know it's a longshot, butt hope someone can throw some titles and screenshots :)

I have no timeframe but it has to be... from 92 93? and earlier.
perhaps 90. Not sure.

hope for the best :)

Cheers,

I wanted to upload this game on Thursday, but I've noticed that the review is really short... What do we do about it?
You're a Roman slave. Well actually, your character is. You've never seen anything more than the provincial town you're in. You feel prisoned, so logically, you will try to escape. That's your first mission, but it's a long way to Rome and in this game, you will see not all paths lead to Rome actually. Escape from that little town before the lava kills you and you will be saved... In the first mission, that is.

But actually, there's so much to say about this game, that I can only recommend playing it. Its graphics are very good for its time and the gameplay is pretty okay too. You have a lot of freedom to do whatever you like, but you are bound to some storyline restrictions, which makes this game fun and not too hard to play.

review written by Spartician, there was also only one screenshot, so I've made some more from the beginning of the game :)

Ok, so I'm trying to remember yet another bargain-bin game from my youth. It was out in the early 90s for Dos. In the game you were a common Roman citizen who worked his way up to emperor. I know it was out at the same time as Centurion, but it wasn't (I never had that much money to get the big name games). I don't remember a ton of the gameplay, but I know you started in Rome, gambled, went to England, and then on to Egypt. It was mostly top-down, I think, but do remember some battle elements.

Dear Sith Lord... :lightsaber: :vader: But to have the review, someone needs to play the game. And for the person to play the game, he must have at least 1 copy of the game. It becomes a kind of vicious cycle. Which came first the chicken or the egg? :what: :dunno:  :tease:

I offer to write the review of the game Rome: Pathway to Power (released as Rome: AD 92 in Europe).

I wrote the review of the game, but it is still being refined and polished to make it more acceptable to Abandonia review standard.

As soon as I complete the review, I will submit it via PM to Emperor Japo(deis) :king:, Space God (Celestial) from Holland(e) :ufoalien: and Grand marko River :1stplace:.

Let’s hope they approve of my review of the game and so that the game is available on the main site as soon as possible. :OK:

EDIT:

By the way, I believe that the game Rome - Pathway to Power (aka Rome: AD 92) is on FTP from Abandonia because Spartacus :kuger: (spartican? :bleh2:) offered the game (http://www.abandonia.com/vbullet/showthread.php?t=19539), the request was approved (http://www.abandonia.com/vbullet/showthread.php?t=23932) by the Updaters and Admins and only missing the review with screenshots to be available on the main site. I already wrote the review and I can get the screenshots.

It makes no sense for you to ask someone to write a review if you do not have the game available on Abandonia FTP. It would be the same thing to buy a tire without having a car. Or buy a syrup without being sick. Or travel without knowing the destination, the cost of the ticket, the lodging, etc. :what: :dunno:  :tease:
