Hi,

i´d like to support the famous Abandonia YT-Channel with various videos of my favourite games. I tried the DoxBox capture feature - and it works fine! So i´d like to get access to the FTP Server to get up some vids from time to time so you can choose if you want to publish it on the channel or not. I think about mainly intros and gameplay videos. I don´t like outros cause i simply want users to find out by playing the game. In these submissions threads i am missing talk about youtube vids. It´s mainly about games, boxshots, manuals etc. (thanks to all the submitters :thumbs:). So i just don´t know if this is the right way to submit some videos for the yt-channel.

Please give me some information how to get some vids to the ftp-server and perhaps on the yt channel. Is there a list of all the vids you have on the server?

I now recorded a couple of videos but i face some problems. Perhaps someone can help.

The capturing seems to work fine but when i check the videos i recognize two issues:

1. There are errors in the video regarding the graphics. It stucks and the pixels are not in the right place. The vid is a wild mixture of colours etc. for seconds. This happens only when played with VLC Player (latest version up to today).

2. In Windows Media Player the graphics are fine but the sound lacks. Theres a one or two second lack between graphic and sound.

I think its necessary two get good quality in both vlc and media player because you dont know which player is used by the intrested Abandonia YTC visitor. So my vids are useless for the YTC. Is there anything i can do to improve quality?

Btw, Is it necessary that a game i want to caputure is downloadable from Abandonia Website or is it all right if the game is just presented on Abandonia.com without the ability to download (i.e. X-Wing which is ESA protected)?

Well, you can upload videos of other classic games which are not available on AB. Let's say before 1997.

Have you done all the necessary steps before recording the video, like installing the ZMBV codec, pressing the Ctrl+Alt+F5 at the beginning and the same combination at the end of the desired part? Did you make sure not to start recording before the game actually starts?

Perhaps its really just a problem with my codecs. I will check them again. I´ll start uploading as soon as possible. Sadly theres a lot to be done at work at the moment...

Watched all Videos in VLC and it play just fine (The Graphic i mean). I use CCCP - Combined Community Codec Pack.

Yep, sound and graphics look ok. But do you really plan on uploading the cutscenes. Since they're spoiler-full we don't really want to upload them. :\

I think the cutscenes are worth watching cause they support the "star wars feeling" from which the game lives. They are a bit short but nice to watch. Also i read the following in the "How to submit content" sticky:

The clips we want have to be one of the following:
- the intro of a game
- gameplay (part where you're playing the game)
- the outro (ending of the game)
- a noteworthy cut scene in a game

And an outro is also some kind of spoiler. Big one indeed.

But at least you choose what to put on the YTC. My uploads are just offerings for you to choose. I´m am not dissapointed if you just delete some of my uploads or if not everything i upload ist presented on YT. Feel free to do whatever you want with the data.:noworry:
