I'd like to see the box art of the games along with the reviews... I know it's not easy to find them but I know we can find some

what do you think???

basically that's a nice idea, imo.

but i think original boxes of old games are quite rare these days, so
there'll be not many pictures of those to be added besides the reviews.

anyway, if there are available scans of boxes, they might be put into
the screenshot section...

It's nice to see cover, but I don't think that there is an option to use scans from other sites, as they made big deal of screen shots.

some of the oldies have a very nice box art... I liked the "alone in the dark" one

Yes, box shots are a good ide as long as we supply scanned originals. Sites that have box scans are very protective of that content....

what about ebay? ppl who are selling old pc-games mostly provide some
box shots there, which to my knowledge shouldn't be protected in any means.

of course, we have to be lucky to find appropriate images there, but this
might be an alternative...

but not a very reliable one, i admit.

I can provide box shots and cd shots for malcom's revenge

If we want to do this it would require a massive opperation involving the entire forum. We could only put box scans online if we have them for the majority of the 330+ games we have online right now. Making sure the scans are genuine and not stolen from other sites would also take a lot of time. Changing the page layout, another big task.
The added value is not great but it is fun to see how packaging changed over time. Not entirely sure it would be worth the effort.

My pics are not stolen from anywhere.

And I am not accusing you of anything. I am only saying that we would need to make sure everyone who provides box scans is as trustworthy as you are. We do not want a rerun of the trouble we had a few weeks ago.

Of course; i didn't meant to sound offensive, it was just an affirmation

I think there's no need to change the layout... you could change just one of the screenshots for the box art

The Niles

Boxart and screenshots have different dimensions. We would deffinitly need to change the page layout for this.

Rogue

We can use current screenshot dimension for thumbnail, and then have a screen open in another window, so the main page does not have to change.

I don't think is that big deal for page design, as it's not static, but dynamic web page (PHP).

Can one of the admins ask for permision some of the sites that have scans?

The Niles

Sure we can but like Kosta said those websites that have them are very protective of them, the likeyhood of us getting permission is not great.

It's wort the try, as it might save us a lot of time.

It would be nice to have some sort of cooperation with one of the web pages that have them. (like MobyGames.com)
