Now I guess here is a game you won't be able to find anywhere (I hope I'm wrong): War Wizard, from MicroGenesis.
All I could find out is that it has been released as shareware somewhere in 1993-94, first for Amiga, then for PC. There is some information about contacting the company but nothing of it is valid now. No information about ordering or buying it somewhere now. I don't know if it is still possible to purchase that game or if it has been abandoned...
I played it in 1994 as shareware and could say there is no comparison to the big games like Ultima VI, but this game has its charme and makes some real fun.
I wonder if you could manage to get any information about purchasing it now or even gain acces to it (you have my deepest gratitude then  ).
P.S. Some more info: this game is RPG, and the company is in CA, which could be either Canada or California (or other).
There is a good review at http://wuarchive.wustl.edu/aminet/docs/rvi...w/WarWizard.txt (http://wuarchive.wustl.edu/aminet/docs/rview/WarWizard.txt)

I can look into finding the game and download it. I wouls suggest that somone else would try to find out if it is abandonware.... but from what you are saying,my german friend, I would believe it is abandoned.....

Well, I combed through all of the abandonware-sites I could find that doesn't demand a download of dialup-program, and this game was NOWHERE to find, just like I said. I searched some sites too for ordering and/or byuing games, with same result. Seems this game is lost for the future... :(
By the way, if you are interested, I have the shareware version of the game, it's approximately 4 MEGs large (uncompressed).

Hehe, no, Wizard Wars i've seen somewhat often on these sites, but it's not that game. Seems that War Wizard was an VERY little-known game...
It is a nice game though.

Wow.
That game really IS difficult to find...
Nonetheless I have managed to find something out, that will help me later with my searches :)
The game was made by two people; Brad McQuaid and his friend Steve Clover. The work began in 1989 and was released as shareware in 1993.
Brad McQuaid later went on to produce the famous "EverQuest"!!!
So from what I can tell, his baby (WarWizard) should have a great potential! :)
Can't wait until I have nailed the game with screenshots and the like.
As always I shall keep you informed of any progress that I make.
For those og you who want to read the above statement in a more detailed text, I have included the link below.

Yes it had somewhat potential, but if you manage to find this game somewhere somehow available consider yourself as an internet's best seeker of all (all my hope ridez on your skill 8) )

Are you sure it is a Shareware?
I'm not getting any sign of it being one...
The download even invludes the manual for the game...
Have you opened both files, after downloading the game?

Try this link...
http://wuarchive.wustl.edu/~aminet/game/role/
You will have to scroll down the entire page, and the a little bit up. You'll see some fies called WARWz103....
I'm still a novice when it comes to computers, so I don't know how to get the game running (if it is possible), but maybe you have more luck

This second one is a shareware too, but somewhat older one than the first that i have too and even not possible to play because there are no executables (perhaps source-code of some kind...). The files there are for sure no archives. It is even possible that this older version is for Amiga and needs emulator...

I am working with an alternative way of getting the game....
Mr. Brad McQuaid himself...

This is the answer I got from Mr. Brad McQuaid.
Hi Tom,
Thanks for the email -- I'm CC'ing Steve & Milo who made WarWizard with me.
As a matter of fact, we recently secured warwizard.com and will most likely
be putting up the shareware version and possibly the full version on it.
We are also considering having someone port it to Win32 (as it won't run on
newer operating systems), but aren't decided yet on how that would work,
whether we'd charge for it, etc.
-Brad
So... all we can do is hope he will put up the full version of the game ont that site, and don't ask for money for it :D
All we can do is wait :)

Brad Mcquaid has been contemplating to release this rpg game as freeware. Perhaps we could pursuade him to release this game as freeware.
"In the future, we may include the full version of the game, but be patient as we are super busy.
Beyond that, we are also considering having WarWizard 1 ported to Win32, so that it will run on modern operating systems (currently you need to have Windows 98 or older and do a 'restart in DOS mode' for the game to work). That said, we're working on Vanguard and between that and family, there's precious few free moments, so don't hold your breath."
-Brian Mcquaid. at his website
Warwizard website (http://www.warwizard.com/WarWizard.htm)
If we could get this game as freeware that would be great. How to do it? Perhaps by persistent emails requesting that he release his game.
Sincerely,
PraY001

The shareware version is fully playable, but you do not have access to the whole world, nor can you complete the game.
Also, if you search around you will find a page by Brad McQuaid(and no, I don't have the link in front of me) but he posted the shareware version and he says that he would love to post the full version, but he has "lost the diskette" that he was storing it on, but that he would make it available for free if he had it... So I believe it can definitely be classified as abandonware.
