I have found a nice little game that I think would be worth adding to the site. Unfortunatly the game is only in French, but it's not preventing anyone from playing. I could try to dig up an English version anyways, but before that I would want to know if it is ABW or not.
I leave this matter to the ABW guru among us. :ok:

Creatures... this that Tamagotchi-like game with a cute, furry monster-like creature that you have to educate, keep healthy, let it explore the little gameworld and such? That one's cool :ok:
Mobygames
Creatures is a very innovative game. You start with 6 eggs of "Norns". Norns are cute little creatures who live in the Creatures world. Your task is to give them knowledge about the world they live in, learn them how to speak, how to use toys, an elevator, how to eat etc. They grow older, reproduce themselves and die. The world is very huge, and the simulation of the AI is terrific.
A quick search results;
Not found for sale anywhere,
Not found for download in abw sites,
Not found a notice of being protected by ESA,
but however in HotU in Creatures 2,
is recommended contacting creature labs,
but neither they have Creature 1 or 2 for sale /-

Checked the publisher's site (Mindscape), and they don't have a trace of the game. Checked the developer's site (Cyberlife Technology ltd.) and it brings up some Under Construction site. Also found this (http://www.gamewaredevelopment.co.uk/creatures_more.php?id=530_0_6_0_M27) site, with all information and add-ons to Creatures, with a list of where to buy it, but all I see there for Creatures 1, are sites like Amazon. I guess this means it's ABW, no?

I just have found exactly the same site as you Tiki, and I noticed that all games (Creature, Creature 2, Creature 3, Creature Docking Station) are available free for download.
This pose the current problem: will Kosta bother to put a game available for download on Abadonnia if it's already freely available by the publisher? Plus, it's a Windows game.

He's done both before, so don't worry 'bout that. Take Pandemonium, for example. That's a Windows game. And take GTA 1... if I'm not mistaken, that one's available from the publisher's site too (first example that jumps into mind)

Looks to me like the "Free downloads" on that site is only add-ons, not the whole program. And them announcing the Amazon page sounds to me like it's for sale...
Over at HotU the Creatures 2 review said something about a remake, I believe (about 3 months since I checked)...
I'd love it to be ABW though, as I had a lot of fun with the original, but to me this sounds a bit ambigous...
they don't offer the games for download.
they offer upgrades/expansions.

WOAH WOAH WOAH!

As a big Creatures fan (and long-time member of the Creatures Community), I must inform you that the Creatures series is NOT DEAD!
Although the original creators, Cyberlife/Creaturelabs, have gone bust, most of the original staff are now trading under the name of Gameware, and hold the rights to the Creatures games, ALL OF WHICH have been repackaged and rereleased (in the UK at least).
The first two games are available in a bundle entitled Creatures: The Albian Years, C3 and Docking Station come under the title of Creature: Exodus, and Creatures Adventures and Creatures Playground are now known by their collective title of Creatures Village.
Docking Station, however, is freeware and available from the above site. I stronly advise everyone to get it.
I didn't saw that docking station last time i was there.
neat.

Hummm, I went there and you are right. Sorry for the confusion.
Is the Docking Station worth it? If I understood well, it's the newer version but with 3Dish graphics? If so, I think I'll be better to keep playing the first part of the serie... :D

If the Docking Station creatures are in a new environment, I'd be curious to hear how the game looks and plays. I've been a fan of the earlier releases.

DS is well worth the download. Even though it's fairly limited (you only get one breed of Norn, a small world, and no Ettins or Grendels), there's a whole ****load of fan-made breeds and items you can import into your world to have a lot of fun with.
If you can find it, however, I recommend getting Creatures Exodus, which contains both DS and C3. The two games can be connected together for a much bigger, better game.

I'm pretty sure I've still got Creatures 3, but I haven't even heard of Creatures Exodus. I'll keep an eye out for it. Thanks.

Exodus is just C3 and DS bundled together, updated to run properly under Windows XP.

I don't think I ever seen such game in any store here... Either that or it was placed in the kid section..!

It never achieved wide distribution, but the series usually garnered appreciative reviews. I reviewed two of 'em over the years, and liked both.

Hey, everyone. I wasn't sure exactly where to post this, so let me know if this is in the wrong place. I've been trying to remember the name of a game a friend of mine had. I'm having some difficulty and I wanted to know if anyone here could help me out. From what I remember, it seemed to be a simulation. You had to take care of these creatures living in a tree. I think they could mate and eventually they would die. I seem to remember there even being gravestones for the dead ones. I think the creatures also may have hatched from eggs. And I could be wrong, but I think they looked kind of like hedgehogs.
Does any of this sound vaguely familiar? I would appreciate any help I can get figuring this out.

Oops, sorry. I thought that forum was specifically for asking to add a game to the site.
And to Frodo, I think that's it. Thanks! Though they really don't look like hedgehogs, do they?
