Rockstar doesn't allow anyone else to host the game, so the only legal download is only from them.

However, you can buy the game for $20 from http://www.cdaccess.com/html/quick/grandth2pr.htm or for a tenner from http://tinyurl.com/3o4c6

Timpsi, the game is abandonware, so, THAT IS A TOTAL RIP OFF!

Sorry to say, but it isn't abandonware, and $10 isn't much for a game.

From the classics page of Rockstar Games: "PLEASE NOTE that while this game may be downloaded for free by all who register by filling out the form on this page, it is NOT freeware and may not be mirrored or duplicated by any third parties without express written consent from Rockstar Games."

2nd one to me was a complete letdown.
Can't put my finger on why, I really loved the first one so it's a bit strange.

I think they were supposed to be schoolkids or something only I don't think that was ever said officially because there would probably have been loads of trouble! :D

I think they were supposed to be Hare Krishnas. You know, the Hindu guys who hang out at airports.

Anyway, this thread is pretty sad. Don't just say a game is "omg so awesome!!!!!111" but say why.

And please don't ask people to send you stuff through email. It's, yeah, sad.

I think the orange guys were called Gourangas or perhaps that was just the bonus you got for killing them all, good fun whatever they're called

San Andreas all the way...

But out of those 3, i'd say #1

edlglide
07-01-2005, 08:10 PM
San Andreas is the most impressive because of the size of the world -- but I think Vice City had a better setting and better storyline. Some of the stuff in San Andreas seemed really far-fetched, even for a video game or movie. Vice City was a little more realistic.

Havell

Gouranga is what it says when you run over a whole line of the Hare Krishnas, it means "Have a nice day!" and it is what the Hare Krishnas say in real life (when people shove past them in airports). It was hugely popular and this popularity was the reason it got in as a cheat code in GTA 2.

San Andreas has too many "gangstaz". I had enough media glorification.

I'm curious as to where they're going to set the next GTA game. They've covered most of the cities in the US that I think would have any appeal -- New York, Miami, Vegas, and LA. Sure they could do it somewhere like Chicago or Detroit, but those cities just don't seem like overly interesting choices. I suppose Washington, D.C. could be done since it's the capital, but Washington really isn't very big, and there aren't really any interesting cities to connect it to like in San Andreas. Maybe they'll go European.

mikebarry
09-01-2005, 07:39 AM
Yah...all I know is that the 3 'GTA3' versions that came out....Liberty City (the first), Vice City, and San Andreas were all three areas in the original Grand Theft Auto (http://www.abandonia.com/game.php?ID=184&genre=action). So, as far as future sequels in Europe/Outside US? Perhaps you're correct...

Havell
09-01-2005, 11:00 AM
Well after the original GTA came GTA: London so the next game may well be in London! :Brain: Also, the game was based in 1969 so maybe this next one will be set during the 60s! I once heard that San Andreas would be based during the 60s, when I found it wasn't I was gutted

"GOURANGA!!!" They are "Hari Chrisnas" (Sorry if I spelt it wrong, which I assume I did) if I remember correctly.

Well, I am a big fan of the series. Although "San Andreas" was a let down in my case. I didn't like the story that much, but if they could remake GTA3 and use the "San Andreas" engine, I would be in heaven. Tiny

LOL @ havell

Here is what you get, and what you have to do:

V.I.P. section features exclusive content that cannot be given out to everyone because of bandwidth limitations. This includes things such as music, movies and large addons for abandonware games that we feature on the site. The content of V.I.P. section is changed monthly. It is accessible to all active forum members that consistently work on the creation of Abandonia. If you think you could also contribute in some way (music, manuals, games...), use the forum or contact form to get in touch with us! Here's a list of things that can get you VIP status:

-Rewieving games.
-Contributing good old games (with your own reviews of course).
-Translating to other languages
-Helping out on the forums (technical support, writing manuals,...).
-Doing various tasks for the site.

I believe the reason the file size is so big is because of all the music and sfx in the game. But I could be wrong. Who knows? Tiny

Sounds about right in terms of size, I think that's how much hd space it took last time I installed GTA. Something around that. With music, movies and everything.

07-02-2005, 06:07 PM
yeah but since it wasn't 3d i was expecting around the 150 mb region this is huge thought! my computer is broken and the one i'm using i have to be careful not to download anything bad (viruses) so i can't really take up my sisters valueble time by downloading this and i can't download any download managers cos then my mum wud go ape, so here i am. i wanna play gta 2!!!!

I found the game in my local EB games for arounf $5.00. But I reccomend you look for the collection if you have a PS1 or PS2 since it comes with the first three games, "GTA 1", "GTA 2" and "GTA: London 1969". Tiny

I spent so many hours playing GTA 2 with my mate, we would compete to see who could rob the most tanks/last the longest against the police. No cheats and you start with a pistol. We kicked so much arse. :rifle: :Titan:

I don't know about that. I preffered GTA 3's story to "Vice City" and "San Andreas". Why? Probably because of the whole Mafia storyline, and it seemed that they put a lot more work into those cut-scenes. Tiny
