Hello, i found the old Earthsiege 2 game at my basement.
Its huge, but i cut the videos and the speech, so its just 16 MB.
The game was made by the Dynamix for sierra, but the dynamix company was closed, so maybe its abandonware?
If yes, i want to share with you all fans of this great mechwarrior game :)

We could host a image of the entire game in the ISO cellar.
16MB is OK for the main page I assume? ^_^

Sorry, still sold (http://www.cdaccess.com/html/quick/earths2pr.htm).

BTW: 16 MB? I've been playing with ripping out stuff from the CD to reduce size, but never got it that small (my "smallest" was still circa 75 MB or so).

ehm and?
You host x-com terror from the deep (http://www.abandonia.com/games/60/download/XComTerrorFromDeep.htm) and sure you can buy it...
http://storefront.steampowered.com/v2/inde...=7650&cc=EN (http://storefront.steampowered.com/v2/index.php?area=game&AppId=7650&cc=EN)

$19.95 for an so old game is damn bold

1. note the "buy it" button.

2. it's 4.95$ actually (for the x-com that is...)

3. Developer doesn't matter much but the copyright holder does. In this case if Sierra is the copyright holder then the game might still be protected by ESA (i.e. copyrights).

Oh and we are giving CDAccess as reliable source (again) but it would sure be good to look for another source, since the site seems a bit fishy...

eh, what is the diffrent between xcom tftd and ufo:eu?
Both are from MicroProse Software, Inc. but you can download ufo:eu

Or what is with http://www.abandonia.com/games/428/download/Albion.htm
its by Blue Byte, they are still active...

there was a deal made between ESA and Abandonia on which games are allowed to be hosted and which would not allowed to be hosted. UFO is allowed i guess because it is old enough. XCOM still needs to mature a bit more...

also for some games Abandinia might have got the permission from copyright owners to host them.

It's not that simple. Publisher alone doesn't mean that something is protected or not.

UFO is allowed because it's old enough and not sold anymore. X-Com is also old enough, but we do not offer it for download because the game is still sold.
Or what is with http://www.abandonia.com/games/428/download/Albion.htm

Is it sold anywhere? Is it still supported by the publisher? Is it still within active ESA protection?
The answer to all three questions is: No. And that's why you can download it here.

yes its sold at eBay...

Is earthsiege2 sold anywhere(not stock levels!)? Is it still supported by the publisher? Is it still within active ESA protection?
The answer to all three questions is: No.
Only the ugly site you post, is selling this game...but im very sure, the game will not off-the-shelf right now...so its not selling.

At least one of the sellers on Amazon is a company.
Therefore: sold.

Is earthsiege2 sold anywhere(not stock levels!)?[/b]
It is at CDAccess.
Is it still supported by the publisher?[/b]
Nope ^_^
Is it still within active ESA protection?[/b]
Until January 2011.

CDAccess is selling the game, regardless of how fast is that going.
However, seeing the recent controversy on the subject of CDAccess' legitimacy we might cease treating them as a valid retailer in near future.

Developed by Dynamix, Inc.
Link at MobyGames (http://www.mobygames.com/game/windows/earthsiege-2).
Sold at CDAccess (http://www.cdaccess.com/html/quick/earths2pr.htm) and unfortunately ESA protected until 2011.

Look at ESA members here: Important: Rules! (http://www.abandonia.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=13107)
Sierra has 15 years protection, so only games (not sold) made before 1992 are abandonware.
Take a look here at our Oldwarez list (http://www.abandonia.com/main.php?nav=awlist), type Sierra into company name section and you'll see.

Sierra/Dynamix no longer under ESA protection.
Can't find for sale (CDAccess doesn't count anymore).

Have original. Done some experiments with ripping it and it's doable by throwing out some of the junk on the CD and the music tracks.

I'm also claiming the right to review it. :p

Earthsiege came out in 1994, a Sierra creation, and Earthsiege 2 in 1995. Some might say they're kind of a Mechwarrior knock-off, but it was all I had back in the day (at least for giant robots) and it was fun.

Earthsiege 2 is approved and I'll review it as soon as possible.

I'm trying to install "Earthsiege 2" in Windows 98 emulated by retroarch through their dosbox pure core. I've got a working windows 98 system through retroarch and I would think a game made in 1995/6 would be compatible with windows 98 but when I try to install or run it I get the message “program error integer divide by 0” and nothing gets installed.

Is it okay to put where I found this game since I do believe it is technically abandonware or is that a no-no on this site? Maybe my source is for modern windows and I need an authentic version.

“program error integer divide by 0”
This could be due to too fast emulation. Also, you could try PCem and/or 86Box.

I tried slowing down the emulation speed but I still get the same error message. The reason why I want to play it in Retroarch is Retroarch has save states. I don't know what the other pc emulators have. If I remember they could save one state and that's it, not even for one game at a time.
Plus it was a lot of work for me to set up windows 98 in retroarch, I really don't want to have to go through that work again.

You were right, the game wants windows 95 and I'm emulating windows 98, that was the sticking point. I did find a version of the game that doesn't mind windows 98.
