Okey, maybe I'm really stupid or blind or whatever when it comes to stuff like that, but what exactly does it do? I mean, I know it's a "Search Plugin", but is it any different from the "Search" option we have on the forum?
/me be stupid/

it searches the main site (so if you type in abuse it will come up with the results on the main site)

Nice one. You should distribute it as an abandonware search plug-in ;) .

Mhh, I see you are not yet VIP. Maybe this will change now. :sneaky:

How do you make it work? I've no idea about it. Just downloaded and put in proper folders, then I'm stuck.

The Niles

I think you need to tell Firefox to use it. I'm no expert though. Try extra and extensions.

That's pretty cool. Just switched to Firefox a few days ago and already attached to it.

Well for people who don't use Firefox (an even for people who do) there is another way to search Abandonia via your desktop.

Get the MSN Search toolbar (beta at the moment) from http://beta.toolbar.msn.com/ and install it.

Using this you can create search shortcuts. So, for Abandonia you would type: "@abandonia,http://www.abandonia.com/genre.php?search=$w" into the search toolbar textbox.

To use this afterwards, just type "abandonia lemmings" to search for lemmings.

_I_ would like to do that. And if I would, I assume others would too. If you don't have anything constructive to add, why comment?

Actually the msn desktop search is a brilliant tool and is much better than the ones released by Google and Ask Jeeves - functionality wise. Using one of these tools you can index all the files on your own drives and search for them easier.

Anyway - I was just giving a work around for people who don't use Firefox - they actually exist!

LOL - nice combination of a problem with a firefox plugin and a banner ad for Opera there.

Opera's OK. I used to use it but stopped when it meant I couldn't use Gmail, and now I just stick to firefox with a GetRight download plugin.

it's just a text file, open the abandonia search plugin to see the "source code". ;)
Should be easy enough to adjust it to your site.

Does anybody here still have the .src file for this plugin? I lost it when I did a harddisk reformatting months ago. The attachment link in the original post seems to be a broken link.

Not sure is it the right topic, but where can I configure RSS feed to the tooolbar?
It keeps writing, that its NOT configured ... :sos:
BTW: The toolbar is cool! No more looking inside bookmarks, all Abandonia at a hand :ok:

Hi tried to install the abandonia search plugin that is at this page,
http://www.searchplugins.net/pluginlist.aspx?q=free&mode=tag
but it does not work properly i have the icon of abandonia on the search bar but when i enter any word it gives me the same result (the first page of all games). any suggestion?

Scatty

I guess it's not working now that the site got another layout and all links / positions of games and everything else has changed. It would need to be updated to a newer version, maybe.

You can still use Firefox search plugin - you need only to change it a bit.

The difference is here:

<SearchForm>http://www.abandonia.com</SearchForm>
<os:Url type="text/html" method="GET" template="http://www.abandonia.com/en/search_abandonia/{searchTerms}">

The first page has old search path, but if you go further(under some game), then search works here. It was the same with choosing genres - in initial page it doesn't work, but somewhere it works.

Oh, well - I've added search plugin in attachmet - extract it in
C:\Documents and Settings\your_user_name\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\some_catalog_name\se archplugins\

I'm using an english version of search, but if someone want to change it to some other language, then you need to replace en with appropriate language code used in abandonia:
...
es - Spanish
sv - Swedish
etc.

template="http://www.abandonia.com/en/search_abandonia/{searchTerms}">

en version contains most results...
