What do you mean by Google search?
Don't give advises about finding warez, the game is good enough and worth it to go and pay for it.
And you can buy it when you click on the link above the review there.

I'm sure they only wanted to suggest where you can order the game from - to pay for it and obtain it legaly. Right... :butcher:

He suggested searching for a buy link, not oldwarez!

FreeFreddy

Then you don't neet the Google for it, the link for buying the game is already, like I said above, on the same page where the review of the game is. ;)

LOL freefreddy read carefully im saying

If you dont know where to find any game that isnt technically abandonware - but is hard to find or more than 10 years old. Do a google search to try to find outlets (internet games stores) games distriutors etc that sell the product - hence google supersearch to find a legal outlet where you can exchange cash for the game in question.

If you cant find somewhere that sells it find via a google supersearch the distribution company of software company that owns the rights email them asking for
a) where can i buy it legally
B) is it possible if nowhere exists that you donate it as freeware to cnet.com for them to put up for players free via their website !

That was direction of my post = nothing to do with warez which of course is 100% illegal. Never downloaded any thing from any warez sites myself - anything i get is from freeware / open source sites like sourceforge.net or HOTU or abandonia.

Plesae dont go getting all loopy on me now

LOL

These 2 were the greatest adventure games ever.

Well anyway, I hope they become abandonware quick.

Unlikely. As I mentioned in another thread, LucasArts is very reluctant to release the rights on any of its adventure games, despite having essentially left the adventure game-making business. Their choice, really, though I agree: the games were excellent.

Lucasarts should just release them already. I want DOTT AND MONKEY ISLAND!

if you have the money, buy them. as i don't have any money i obtained them through "other" sources (im not saying you should though) and i do think its ridiculous that lucasarts are holding them from being abandoned when they aren't making any money out of it.

Omuletzu

In fact by not making them abw, lucasarts is only promoting oldwarez

We should all send them a email or something.

They need to be abandoned. Most people dont even care for the 3 games anyway. Most people are focusing on all the new star wars games.

And what about us all on this site? :P
I think there're more people still interested in the games than we think... I saw on some other forums also enough people that still like old games. Not that many compared to those who're only interested in new games, but not really few, there're many...

When we start e-mailing them...they will get :ranting: and wont give any game more free

FreeFreddy

Mad perhaps not, but they could start to look around and that could bring some problems with it.

well it doesnt stop anyone from emailing lucasarts - but its probably best not to bark up that tree - though other game software makers with old titles not making any $$$ from it might be more willing.

Dunno its up to the individual as to what they do.

They're trying to promote sales, off code that they developed and published. It seems reasonable. You or I may think that they should release the code, but if they don't, IMO they deserve to make whatever money they can off a good game. You like it? Buy it. I purchased it when it first came out, and still have it.

ive been saying it all along if they make it freely available for sale for a small fee then i totally support that - its when they dont bother to keep selling it and then stash for the sake of some IP hang up = that is when they dont want to sell it anymore that it should be made freeware / abandoneware. Not before if game companies are willing to keep selling it then support them but if they are just leaving it to rot without sales support then consider the freeware option - its us game players that keep buying their overvalued products when they first hit the shelves give something back to the fans by making titles that are 6 years or older and when they cant be bothered selling anymore by making it freeware. That removes the whole issue of illegal OW***z - which i disagree with 100%

If they're overvalued, stop buying them. Nobody is forcing you to buy or play any games. Buy the games of other companies, from small developers. Or do something other than play games.

Thing is, no matter how much their attitude may disgust you (or me), they still own the game, they developed it, and they deserve to be paid for its use until they release the game or disappear into limbo. Anger at their actions is no excuse for software piracy.

One possible, thoroughly legal solution: buy the game secondhand. That way, the only party to get money in the transaction is the person we buy it from.

Sorry, not many games from lucasarts are abandoned... if you want puzzles though, have you checked the sierra productions?
Just type "quest" in the search bar ;)

Bill Gates' Hell, otherwise known as Microsoft, has also released a fine puzzle game: Pandora's Box. It's not abandonware, but I can recommend it strongly to those who like traditional puzzles in great variety.
