:) got the game finally boxed WITH Instructions, regestration card, disks, and other stuff :P. I had FS 5.1 but lost disk 1 and disk 3 was erased. I loved this game when I was little. My dad is a HUGE fan. He owns every FS (xcept 98 ) lol. Kosta if you want I can give them to you for uploading (the files). First I need to know if abandon ware though.

I am a big fan of emulators too... Only that i prefer the more combat-oriented :P My favorite is IL-2 forgotten battles ( recently i got and its expansion - "ace expansion pack" ). The attention to detail that has been given to this game is unsurpassed.

FlightSim 5 is abandonware now. I was planning on putting up Space Simulator as well. It could be a nice pair.

Space simulator, if i remember correctly, had a very odd option... to make the time pass in real time, from the preperation for liftoff to the actual landing of the spaceship... and so a mission could take days ( real days :P )

This game truly deserved the title "real-time simulation" then :)

yep :) And there are and other examples of emulator games that for the sake of realism were for most people unplayble... Like "SU-27 Flanker". The cocpit of the airplane and all the info in the HUD etc were in russian only ( so you had to know russian to be able to play :P )

But, all those who speaks russian lives in desolated places like Siberia, Russia, Lituania, and so on...

And we all know these countries do not have electricity. How are they supposed to play a computer game?

Danny252

Tom Henrik

Tom Henrik

Nope, the most advanced machinery they have uses batteries. Batteries they buy from industrialized countries. :P

Danny252

LotharGR

LOL ok, i knew that russia isn't exactly a "rich" country.... :P But as far as i know they have nuclear plants ( even if most of them are ancient :P )

Tom Henrik
12-05-2004, 09:24 PM
You nailed the problem, Lothar. These plants are so ancient that they are not allowed to use them, other than as museums.

Hear my words.... BATTERIES!

LotharGR

Ancient nuclear plants aren't a problem of russia only... there is one also and in Bulgaria, very near the Greek borders, and the Greek ( and other ) goverments here in the region have asked repeatedly to shut it down because th plant is working since the 50s... Its a a real nightmare here for the entire balkans ( but this plant is providing over 30% of the whole electric production of Bulgaria )

Heh  you guys are SO WRONG!!!You think that all of the countries that once formed the U.S.S.R. are primitive. That's totally wrong.I mean I live in Romania and there is electricity.True that Romania was never an U.S.S.R. component but we were neighbours with such countries. Also true is the fact that almost all of the ex-communist countries are flat broke, but that doesn't mean we haven't got electricity.Russia has electricity! What you think that we use candles to illuminate our streets??!!

Well then i'm sorry for my outburst  .But I know what you all think about these countries(mine included); i'm just trying to make you all change your perspective.Anyway this is getting off-topic so let's leave it here

1) I defended the fact that 'these countries' do indeed have electricity.
2) It was sarcasm
3) we ARE getting off topic, so get back in line, you puny worms!

One last comment... everything can be misunderstanded very easily when you are talking in a forum or in a chat, so sarcasm must be used ( if is to be used at all ) very carefully :)

Flight Simulator 5.0

- Released in late 1993 FS5 is the first version of the series to use textures. This allowed FS5 to achieve a much higher degree of realism than the previous flat-shaded (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flat_shading) simulators. This also made all add-on scenery and aircraft for the previous versions obsolete, as they would look out of place.
The bundled scenery was expanded (now including parts of Europe). Improvements were made to the included aircraft models, the weather system's realism and artificial intelligence. The coordinate system introduced in FS1 was revamped, and the scenery format was migrated from the old SCN/SC1 to the new and more complex BGL format.
More noticeable improvements included the use of digital audio for sound effects, custom cockpits for each aircraft (previous versions had one cockpit that was slightly modified to fit various aircraft), and better graphics.
It took about a year for add-on developers to get grips with the new engine, but when they did they were not only able to release scenery but also tools like Flightshop that made it feasible for users to design new objects.
