Any tower defense style games?

Are there are any old tower defense style games? I can only really think of Rampart but Abandonia has shown me a world of so many games that I never knew about or heard of in my youth.

I am referring to games were you setup a map or fortification or maze and build towers along a path which creeps or enemies move along or towards and you have to fend them off or stop them from reaching a goal. Modern examples are the many tower defense maps for Warcraft III and the popular flash game desktop tower defense.
