Not that I'm a Diablo fan (haven't played much of it), but I want something similair to play. An RPG with loads of action.... Preferably something that's available on this site.
Is there anything similair at all?

As for games similar to Diablo... "Roguelike" is what you're looking for. Might want to check Castle of the Winds (for windows, but was released as public domain).

Thanks, but are any of those actually for DOS?

Agreed. The Fifth Horseman, you should totally read up on it.

You could try Arcanum. That one's for Windows, though.

...I actually got that game just yesterday (along with Baldur's Gate II, which is much better IMO). xD
What about Ancient Evil, which is on the site? Not sure if it's for DOS. I tried it once and it was a killfest (didn't like it).

Ancient Evil is a no go!
I did have my eyes on it before creating this thread, btw. Thanks, anyway.
Oops didn't notice. :P It wasn't when I tried it a long time ago.

I have been recommended Nox some time ago. It's a bit different to Diablo, but really nice. Some people think it's even better.
The good thing about Nox is, that it seems to be freeware. There is a large forum supporting this game: Nox Forum (http://www.noxforum.net)
Mm, Arcanum, sexy...
Arcanum also has a clone, don't remember the title however.

There was a nice 2D game under Windows 3x, where you could play similar character as in Diablo. It was an "icon" based game, you traveled into underground dungeon, oponents were also icons, but they were moving. On the sunlight you had shops, blacksmith, "identifier" (as you also find and get magic items unidentified). You could give better equipment to the character, etc. So it was completly like Diablo and came out before Diablo several years. First I thought it has same authors. Unfortunately I had only a shareware version, and it is also lost. I found that game on your links which sent me to Wiki and it redirected me a site: http://lkbm.ecritters.biz/cotw/screens.html; Game name: "Castle of the Winds". It has that time nice graphics (you can create your character icon!!) and tactics (as some opponent were interesting, they were sometimes only taking your money and get lost immediatelly, if you was not strong enogh or you had no spells. :) ). I can't judge the sound, as that time I had no sound card. It seems, now you can get the game for free as author released it for free. :)
Anyhow DiabloI is/was a very nice game. I still like and once a year playing it. Diablo II was not so nice graphics and storry ...weak, but for Diablo-fans could be interesting.
I hope Diablo III will be as good as Diablo I.
I remember this game called Druid (or something). And it's not old C=64 Druid or Druid 2 which were arcade games (and both much fun, especially if you had a second player to control summoned creatures).
Back to the topic, this game was an adventure/rpg clone. You didn't have free scrolling on a level like in Diablo, but you needed to move from one screen to another, solve a puzzle there or collect an item or get a clue or fight a monster. I think it was a dos game.
Well, thanks to the google, I found the game:
Druid - Daemons of the Mind (http://au.gamespot.com/pc/rpg/druiddaemonsofthemind/index.html)
And it is abandoware!

Druid is on the ISO Cellar.
Druid is on the ISO Cellar.
What's ISO Cellar?
In case no one has mentioned it;
Throne of Darkness.
You control multiple characters in a d2 like enviro, japanese-styled.
Its got the basic crap, loot drops, hordes of evil monsters, ninjas, heads on pikes, massive demons from hell...
Good luck affording anything crafted, you're not rich enough.
The formation control is actualy quite impressive, the game seal of evil I believe was built on the same process, s.e.o. however, stinks, I'd rather eat the unidentifiable garbage from a resteraunt.

The ISO Cellar is a subsection of this forum. I think when you reach certain amount of forum posts, it will appear. Just post as usual, don't spam, enjoy your stay on this forum, and soon you'll see it :)

You want some hardcore hack and slash action? Button bashing and potion drinking?
I'll upload some stuff - Heimdall 2 is sorta fun.
I get bored of these games easily, they've VERY repetitive.
Cheers,
Pete

Thanks. Heimdall 2 looks awesome.
And thanks to all of you for the replies. (...Even if a certain someone mentioned a roguelike. >_>)
What do you mean when you say Rogue-like games? I'm sure I've encoutered such a game before, but I didn't hear that expression.

Roguelike. It's a sub-genre of RPG.

But pleeeeeease, people. Get back on topic now. This is far from what I wanted. :unsure:All I wanted was to get recommendations on DOS games that has emphasis on action, but still have RPG elements in them. I didn't want this to turn into a big arguement with people all around laughing & bashing each other in the face.
Create a new topic if you want to discuss Diablo, pretty please? Less bullshit, more games.

Try "Castle of the Winds"; site: http://lkbm.ecritters.biz/cotw/screens.html
I already mentioned on page 2 :)
Sorry, not really a DOS game running in all Windows... I liked that :)

Hi Simoneer.
To get back to your question there IS a similiar RPG-HacknSlay-whatever-Game to Diablo:
The Summoning by SSI and Event Horizon is nearly a prequel to Diablo according to the gameplay. The only difference is the attack mode. In Diablo you klick on the monsters and in The Summoning you click your attack-icon or push the 1 or 4 key on your keyboard. You can play it completely with mouse or keybord. A combination is good...
There are a lot more riddles than in Diablo most of them are puzzle- (right object in right hole), lever and bottom plate riddles(press right plate and hit correct lever). And because of that you have to carry tons of objects with you. This sometimes gets a bit annoying.
But nevertheless it's a great game and I loved it. When Diablo came out I was suprised that these game equals themselves so much (except the graphics) but even german gaming magazines had seen many similarities between these two classics.
Oh yes.. the link  -**** summoning, the (http://www.abandonia.com/en/games/23547/Summoning%2C+The.html)
.... one tip if you want to play it: On Character-Creation-Screen, Agility is your most important attribute. Give it a high value otherwise the you walk extremly slow!

Well, I do not know whether this has been suggested or not (I am too lazy to check the previous pages), but if you find The Summoning to your liking, then you will almost definitely like Veil of Darkness.

Same company, although this game is more on the horror than fantasy side.

Yeah - damn right. Forget to mention this game. Well "The summoning" has a fantasy/medieval unlike to "Veil of Darkness" which takes place in Transylvania (I think) and is more into the vampire stuff... but a great game though with a deep atmosphere.
