(done in photoshop, the figure was created in poser)

EDIT: uups, a little bit oversized

Thats nice, do you use a palette?

Strobe
18-12-2004, 10:59 AM
what exactly do you mean?

Stroggy
18-12-2004, 11:03 AM
One of those palets with an electronic pen/brush

Strobe

here we go, another flyer for another party...

Strobe
18-12-2004, 11:04 AM
i see... yes, is some parts of the picture, to "polish" it up a bit.

Strobe
18-12-2004, 11:07 AM

Strobe

The images are nice, clean.

You have a really nice sense of harmony both in terms of light, forms, and writing. Do you do it professional? For a living?

Strobe
18-12-2004, 04:43 PM
thanks for your compliment, tom!

yes, i'm trying myself as a professional - to be precise, in summer i finished
my time as student, now i may call myself "diploma communication-designer"
and "master of european media arts"... but without a job, this title is merely
decorative <_<

at the moment i'm applying for jobs in new york city, but until something
useful turns out, i'm earning my living as a freelancer.

today, i want to present some hand-crafted material i've drawn several years
ago. i liked pen drawings a lot, but since i concentrated more on digital art during
the past months due to my studies, i haven't done anything on paper lately.

the following stuff was done in a phase when my mood was a bit "negative" - as you
might tell from the motives - nevertheless i want to show it to you...

the first one's named "one step beyond"

Strobe
19-12-2004, 09:40 AM
a second one....title "an accident on xtc"

Strobe
19-12-2004, 09:42 AM
this piece is called "Adam's forbidden fruit"...

19-12-2004, 09:43 AM
Very well done, twisted but nevertheless hopefull (in the case of the first one)
Good shading, too.

Strobe
19-12-2004, 09:47 AM
@freefreddy:

what sort of experience do you mean...?
as far as the first picture is concerned, a good friend of mine commited
suicide... he was 17y old... it was hard for me to cope with this..

FreeFreddy
19-12-2004, 09:49 AM
Ah, ok. My condolences for that.

Strobe

now another pen-made piece, portraiting fox mulder from the x-files...

Tom Henrik
19-12-2004, 12:32 PM
It is a very good drawing, but something is wrong. (No, I do not mean his hair-colour - that would shine like that if a light source shone on it). Maybe it is the eyebrows. I think he had more bushy eyebrows. But overall a nice picture! :ok:

FreeFreddy
19-12-2004, 12:34 PM
His lips are also a bit too large for a man. And yes, his eyebrows were little larger, too.
Good picture, in any case. :ok:

Strobe
19-12-2004, 12:38 PM
i think i know what you mean... maybe i give it a try some day and correct a
few aspects in the picture...

anyway, thanks alot for your nice comments! :)

there's another work i'd like to share with you. i've painted it with charcoal several years
ago... it's too big to scan it, so i used my digicam to take a picture of it....

(no explaination needed, i guess - anybody can figure out, what's being diplayed :D )

taikara

Strobe, this is awesome! You're technical skills are amazing, and your presentation is beautiful.

I'm sorry I never looked at this gallery before, I'm ashamed.

Where did you learn? Did you teach yourself, or did you take lessons?

Is that a man or a woman?
The breasts are that of a woman and the belly (Bauch) that of a trained athletic man. LOL
But hey, it's a great drawn picture. ;)

Black angel
01-02-2005, 05:49 PM
It's almost looking like a photo.
Well, I can figure out what's displayed - some woman breasts on a man, no offense. :roflol:

Strobe

thanks for your nice comments!

@taikara:
i tought myself to draw since i was a little boy...it was always great fun, but there
were times when i had more motivation to do paintings, sketches and stuff...
during the last two years, i seldomly decided to do such things - it's a pity because
i really love creating drawings.

@free freddy and black angel:
this image is to be meant displaying the torso of a woman - why shouldn't women
have athletic bodies? i've tried to combine two types of erotic expression - sexuality
on one hand and sportive attractiveness, on the other.

Strobe
01-02-2005, 07:46 PM
some of you may have noticed a portrait of x-files actor david duchovny, which
i have published earlier in this thread. there were some details in this drawing, which
i didn't like, and some of you confirmed my doubts.

this and the fact that i haven't drawn for quite awhile led to the decision to present
something new. i decided to draw another portrait of good old "fox mulder" and after
working on it during the last night i managed to finish it today.

here it is. comments are, as always, very welcome...

Well, I for my part don't like ahletic women. They're too unattractive to look beautiful, at least it's how I see it. Athletics is for men, soft beauty is for women, that was always the main direction of beauty for people in almost every age and in every country. Of course it wasn't always like that, in the Middle Ages people tended to draw ill looking women with weak proportions, but that came from the life in closed cities and weak health. ;)

I'm a big fan of david duchovny so I was thrilled to see such a great portrait of him here. Thanks, Strobe. You've really captured his mystique. Just one criticism, I think his eye (on my left) is placed too high. Awesome tonal work which really adds to the feel of the Fox Mulder version of David.

I read something he said in an article recently. "You can never be too humble, because no matter how much you learn, there'll always be someone who, although younger and less-educated, will know more than you."

Strobe
04-02-2005, 12:20 AM
hi @ all!

about wendy's message:
it's great to hear that there are other people admiring the person of
david duchovny like i do! and i agree to your note about his left eye :)

as all of you are right encouraging me to practice painting more often,
i felt driven to do another try. this time i made usage of "water colors"
(don't know if this is the correct english term, but it's a direct translation of
the german expression...)

this painting is called "the three wanderers"

Strobe i must congratulate you on some excellent work! :w00t:

Once again brillant work and i hope you have fun creating more fantastic art.

big thanks go out to all of you for your supportive and kind comments!
believe it or not but i would have never expected to get such great feedback
on my works! it's somehow embarassing that although i've neglected my
painting/drawing hobby so much, so many nice people are acknowledging
these few presented creations!

thank you so much! your input is really appreciated and for the sake of fun
and practise, i will try hard to keep on staying in touch with doing some more
art. art is fulfilling and it's a shame not to sacrifice a few hours of lifetime in
order to express it...

amazing.. expecially those sun "flames"!!

Strobe
07-02-2005, 01:54 PM
thanks bohor! :) the sun was somehow the key element to this picture so i've
tried to work it out as detailed as possible...

this time i want to share a drawing with you, which have an immense emotional
value for me.

i did it about ten years ago, in a period of my life in which i felt like the person
which is shown...i just wanted to hide under my coat because i felt too challanged
and threatened by the things that were happening around me...

bohor
07-02-2005, 01:57 PM
really cool picture...
anyways, what are you? an artist?

Strobe
07-02-2005, 02:11 PM
that depends on your point of view...

i wouldn't call myself an artist. i like to consider my works mere expressions
of the state of mind i'm crossing from time to time....

actually, i studied communications-design, which is more computer orientated.
but i love to draw and paint since i was a child.

taikara

@bohor: Of course he's an artist!!! Being an artist isn't a the label of your occupation, it's the ability to create art! And Strobe definitely can create art.

Strobe, this last one is one of my favorites. I feel the same way often.

Black angel

a few days ago i happen to dig out a small collection of VERY old drawings of mine,
which i believed never to find again. but luckily those weren't lost so i looked them

age. one of those is quite representable, though, so i'd decided to show it to you...

@ void:
a neighbour, who used to live next door, had a similar dog, but luckily, i've never seen
it in such furious pose ;). as a matter of fact, i had some bad dreams about it, though,
so one day i decided to try drawing it like this...i asked our neighbour for a picture
of his dog, but on the pic it had its mouth shut, thus i had to improvise a little :)

taikara

Strobe

thanks, tom and reup!!

you know what makes me really sad is the fact, that when i was younger, i had much
more energy to put into painting and drawing, while during the last few years much
of this motivation has vanished. ok, studying and other things might be an explanation
for this regress, but nevertheless i do hope, that i will find the way back to my flow
soon.

your feedback is quite encouraging, so let's see what the future will reveal :)
thanks again!

as i've mentioned in some of my last posts, i haven't drawn anything lately.
the last weekend, i was at home feeling quite bored, so i finally chose to
give my neglected hobby a new try...

the first portrait has been done rather quickly to regain the routine of drawing
a head. i know, it's very rough (especially the nose) but...oh well, it's an approach
after a loooong time without practice.
http://www.aktentaeter.de/abandonia/portrait-1.jpg

the second one has been done with more patience, yet it's far from being perfect.

So do I!

Always nice to see someone of the old core come up with something new, and very good for being made from scratch!

I personally like the most the first one, it's just very expressive.
The second remembers me of someone, but can't tell who. Awesome job on both! :ok:
