:)Hello. In 1994 Hobby & Work publicated a partwork magazine that was originally published by Marshall Cavendish in the United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand in the early nineties. It was also translated into French, German, Italian and Spanish. In Italy a group of programmers, Holodream Software, started from scratch and designed the games, adapting the story to four adventure games. Then borned La storia ancestrale for DOS. I'm sure that is abandonware. Just came here (http://www.farenga.it/). But on the abandonwarez site doesn't exist. I can give you the whole pack of 4 disks. The game is in italian but I've heard about a fan's english translation.
Just tell me what shall I do and I'll do that. Bye:)

If you have the floppies, use WinImage (http://www.winimage.com/download.htm) to create IMG files from them (for floppies it's the equivalent of ISO images for CD-ROM discs). Then upload these. :)

No, I simply told you the status of the game, it's not protected or sold, it's ok for Abandonia.
But we need those English translations, we don't insert non-english games on site.

Exceptions do happen, if we can't find the English version or there's some problem with it. ^_^

See Atlantis: Tales of the Lost City for one, and Black Sect for another. There probably was one or two more, earlier, but I don't remember which ones.

If the game is installed from floppy images, it will work fine. If it is ran from a floppy image, the savegame will be stored in the image file. Unlike ISOs, the IMG files for floppy disks can be modified after being created.

With Photoshop I think I could create a translated picture of the title "la storia ancestrale"...I'll do some tries.

if you're going to try, don't do it photoshop like but pixelart, what does la storia ancestrale mean anyways? the stories of the ancestors?

Dave

A bit narrow, isn't it? Maybe like the second one?

i'd say it's good except for the wide T (on top of it), but heyy that's not fair, david said he'd do it

Dave
13-09-2008, 02:54 PM
@Luchsen: not so bad :)
Edit: no problem russ, I didn't have time today.

To be specific, those exceptions apply when the text is not a requirement to complete the game. So with a FPS or a platformer it's more or less fine, but not quite so with a RPG or an adventure game.

I didn't want to oust David, I was in doubt if the English title would fit, so I had to try. http://crowl25.250free.com/desmond.gif

except for the wide T

That's the only letter I had to do by myself. *^_^ Because of the wideness, or what? Please explain, otherwise I only can photoshop in the dark (like below).

Anyway. About the "Ancestral Trail Logo" look at this:231
Maybe it can be usefull.
But for now I don't know how to edit the images, I've tryed also opening the files as a raw files.

 Great job russ. If i'll find a way to edit the image i'll use surely the yours.
:(However tommorrow will start the school, so I can't translate at the same velocity.
But if I finish the traslation of the first chapter, maybe it's better if I give it to a true english man (i'm italian and only the 90% I think is real english :perv:) for test it and to report the errors (if any)

nice! but yeah, some grammar nazi playing through the game would have been good i guess.

what does "how i'm here" mean for example? =S

Dave
15-09-2008, 04:53 PM
Yeah, I see some direct translations from Italian that doesn't have sense in English. But hold on ;)

Did you meant: "Come sono finito qui?" with "how I'm here?"

Isn't better:
"How I came here?"

thebigboss94ita
15-09-2008, 05:00 PM
:) Don't worrie about this. I've already change it in "Hi, I'm Richard. how did I#get here?" (thanks lulu and RUSS:thumbs:)

Dave
