Thanks to the person that directed me to the angband d/l but if anyone can help find the newer version... (it actually has graphics, not txt based stuff) it would b much appreciated. I couldnt find my original thread so sorry for startin another...:confused:

If you're going to play a rogue-like, you're going to play text based stuff whether you like it or not.

nope... there was a win 3.1 version... not txt based... ridiculuosly basic but graphics nonetheless

I wasn't talking about Angband, I'm talking about rogue-likes in general.

There's something fundamentally wrong with a rogue-like that has graphics.

lol... nothin can compare to the original rogue anyway... i didnt realise there were others besides moria and angband... (just my ignorance showin)

Meh, the original Rogue was simple, but like the original Ultima it hasn't aged well at all. The only reason I'd play it now is for nostalgia, not really fun.

There are craploads of rogue-likes. Ones like ADOM and Nethack are pretty popular. Someone showed me a great work-in-progress rogue-like pretty recently called Incursion, it's great, but it's got bugs at this stage.

the latest angband has support for tiled graphics. My favorite variant is Zangband.
