Hey guys, I'm not a programmer whatsoever, but I'd like to learn some basics for simple flash games like Helicoptor, Snake, Tetris etc.
I'm also interested in making a Rodents Revenge Flash Remake, as I can't seem to find any. :cheesy:
Does anyone have any decent tutorials or tips they could share on making actionscripted games?

Also to note, these games are intended to have a points system which will then be submitted to it's hosting site and converted to users points for the person playing the game (based on a registered userbase community - sort of how neopets flash games convert the game score into neopoints onsite, if that makes sense).
So any tutorials or advice/instruction on how to go about doing this would also be fantastic.

No pain, no gain:
http://www.flash-game-design.com/tutorials.html
http://www.tutorialized.com/tutorials/Flash/Games/1

And a pretty interesting one:
Tower Defense, how it's been made. (http://www.emanueleferonato.com/2007/10/06/make-a-flash-game-like-flash-element-tower-defense-part-1/)

That tutorialised site was extremely useful, thank you.
I'd actually stumbled across Emmanuele's site whilst looking for a script for helicopter, he has some really great tutorials on there :amused:

I recently brought this book: www.flashgameu.com
You can find more info there.

It's pretty interesting. I didn't had any time to start reading it, and also, as the book says it's not really intended for ActionScript newbies (like myself). It explain the things, but some basic concepts you still have to know.

You can't say it's useless. Much information can be found in a book. Of course a person with a strong desire can learn from everywere. I for example like to read on my bed.

Actually, a friend recently lent me a book intended for newbies in the field. I'm finding it very useful and we even went through and wrote a simple helicopter and asteroids game n_n The trouble with online tutorials is you often have a sift through a lot of crap to find some the ones that are decent o.o;
