Hopefully someone on here will remember this game. It came out in the late 80's or maybe 90 or 91. I'm pretty sure it was from EA. It was a Space RPG where you created a group of military characters that had to do "something" in this star system. You would have space battles and you could land on the different planets at different grid sectors to go exploring in this tracked vehicle. There was also an ice planet near the end with an abandoned research station you had to explore. You went down several levels and started fighting these dragons. These music was also pretty cool for the time.

Anyone know what I'm talking about?

The last time I played it was 91 so I do not remember much, but, is it perhaps Hard Nova?

No, it wasn't Hard Nova but your second link let me know that Hard Nova was the sequel to the game I was looking for: Sentinel Worlds!

Thanks!!!

Hi guys,

I have just found all these old games I used to play back in the day and I can remember playing a really great game that I'd love to find again.

I can't remember who made it, but here are the details:

- It was sci-fi based, you got to fly a spaceship around for some of the game (top-down)
- You also had to go explore places, and this was as a top-down party of people , there may also have been some third-party kind of interaction...?
- You had to fight and collected weapons and stuff
- I remember one area I went in to and it was an ice station and there were tigers running around
- It was kind of RPG, kind of adventure

If anyone could help me find the name of the game that'd be awesome, thanks.

- Josh

Sounds a little like Albion, perhaps? Or Yoda Stories?

Sentinel Worlds - awesome game, few games were made quite like it. And it's completely playable today without the need for dosbox or a slowdown program, because you can set the game's frames per second speed in the Options.

There goes my weekend...

Thanks again! :)

Sentinel Worlds: Future Magic (http://www.mobygames.com/game/dos/sentinel-worlds-i-future-magic) (1989)
By Electronic Arts
It's abandonware :)

I've been staring at the box for this old (1988) Electronic Arts title for quite a while now. Since I qualify as a novice-at-best user, I've so far been unable to manipulate DosBox into running this game properly. I'd be more than happy to upload this game to Abandonia since it shows up on the oldwarez list as abandonware, but is as far as I can tell is still unavailable.

Sentinel Worlds I was an early Sci-Fi RPG. It featured open gameplay as well as a pretty decent storyline. Thanks to my ADD, and the fact that I purchased this game at the same time as a small handfull of other titles, I can't tell you much more than that about this particular title. I do remember that I throughly enjoyed the gameplay that I did partake of, and would love to give it another go if someone can dumb down the dosbox configuration for me.

Looks interesting. If you want to upload, you could write a review and take some screenshots aswell :)

But let's just wait for an admin to approve it.

Taking screenshots would require me to get it working in DosBox first as I don't have a DOS machine set up currently, and as mentioned above I have not gotten it to function in DosBox yet.

Great old game... open sci/fi roleplaying, with 3 modes - vehicle (like starflight), spaceship (again like starflight), and party-based RPG (with green/blue/red dots for people - and still pix like Bards Tale).

I have the box, with the original unusuable 5+1/4" floppies somewhere... plus the hint guide.

Merged thread with older one. Approval is given five posts above.

If you could send me the game, i'd be more than happy to make them for you :)
And you should do the review, since i presume your familiar with the game.

Geez this morphig thing scared me, cause i thought i miss-posted again -.-

If it's approved, what do I do next? Wait for a message or e-mail to tell me where to send it?

Or is it something that you've already gotten hold of and it's just waiting to be put on the list for everyone? It's pretty small. My original disk is a single low density 3.5" floppy. (it also has the dual low density 5.25 floppies also, but I dont have a working 5.25 drive anymore)

And Tomekk: I wasn't joking about the ADD bit. I played this for a grand total of about 1 hour. Now that my ADD is more under control, I'd like to go back and see what I missed by moving on to the next game too early.

Thanks for uploading this one White Tiger.
.....and would love to give it another go if someone can dumb down the dosbox configuration for me.

A fast testrun:
Game works fine in dosbox 0.72, default config.
-> set CPU cycles low.( approx 1000 on my PC)
-> mount the game folder as floppy A:
(for me it's: mount a e:\games\sentinel -t floppy )
-> run installf 1 once from A: prompt
-> run game with sentinel

'Installf 1' gives EGA, 'installf 2' gives CGA.

Interesting, and thank you very much dosraider!

Seems I went wrong in one or more of these areas:
1) Using DosBox .70 instead of .72 (resolved) :whistling:
2) Didn't use the -t floppy switch (didn't seem to matter after install, used it during install and everything went fine)
3) I was also trying to do a HD mount of the game by mounting first directory as a: to simulate the floppy, then second directory as c:, then following the directions for using the installh command instead of the installf.

Anyway, regardless, it is now successfully installed and running like a charm. And believe it or not, taking my attention away from Spore and Final Fantasy XII. :max:

Incidentaly, when can I expect to see it on the site so I can steer my friends to d/l it from you?

Edit: Also, if you want, I do have access to a full version of Acrobat at work and may be able to change the jpg manual files into PDF's if that would be worth it.

What ever happened with this? It never made it to the featured games list =(

I used to create my whole squad with the Arnold looking avatar and give them all names from Arnold movies =P
