This is a thread to help with the filling of publishers and producers of games.
the idea is whenever we see something missing we can post it to give Paco some help and make more easy the job of filling the blank spaces.
Is it a good Idea?
I was checking these games and i saw publisher and producer was missing so i googled them,
here is my first contribution.

Now I don't have time, but since it's like checking games into requests forum I can give you all some hint, especially to Paco :)

First, remember to check MobyGames (http://www.mobygames.com/home), second, try at Wikipedia, third, you can search info on other abandonware sites (xtcabandonware, cdosabandonware), HOTU Oldwarez list is a bit old because it's all Freezed there, but it's still good. Remember to not search into leechers cathegory (for example @ "free-game-downloads", that site is a bad Cut&Paste from other sites.)

Sometimes Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/) could help you a lot, but they often do some confusion about Producers & Developers.

Last useless hint...Google is your friend :amused:

@Doink true but the Games on the List Romano posted dont exist on Mobygames. I put it on List so i can look up later on other Site to confirm if the Info is correct.

@Juanca thanks.

I also need Info on Elite and Flashback since there exist 2 different Version. For Elite its CGA and VGA version. For Flashback its DOS and CD-Version.

You can also tell me if wished to add keyword for this or this Game and Games added to "If you like this Game, you will also like"-List

Keywords (tags), not now. A few games have keywords, only to test advanced search. In the mean time marko_river has prepared new tags for all games, but search "tree" must be modified before implementation.
You can add Also try if you wish, but maybe it will be better to start this as the next AB improvement "project" :)

oh ok. but words like Free Roaming, Card, Comedy and Western are rarely used.

Then Arcade, Puzzle and Text-Based is double as Theme and Genre.

If the List is too long, you cant see the Size anymore. Yo ushould also change that.

But i will not go through all Games again just to add Games to List again. :oh:

The only thing different between the floppy and CD versions of Flashback is release date.

really?

Flashback

Producer:
Delphine Software International
Publisher:
Strategic Simulations, Inc.
Year:
1993

Flashback (CD)

Producer:
US Gold
Publisher:
US Gold
Year:
1995

quite different isnt? I will change the Flashback CD-Info so its the same as Flashback.

Edit:

I think you have a little Problem now!

http://www.mobygames.com/game/dos/crazy-cars-iii

accordings to that:

http://www.abandonia.com/en/games/79/Lamborghini+American+Challenge.html
http://www.abandonia.com/en/games/23257/Crazy+Cars+3.html

are the one and the same! One Game under 2 different Names on Site?

The dates are correct, but the rest is wrong. Producer should be Delphine Software International and Publisher should be US Gold, same for both.

But many times when I saw these options fail, there is always the last resourt - TRY THE GAME! There is usually a screen with release year, producer and publisher (and oddly enough they do differ from the info MobyGames or Wikipedia have to offer).

The oldwarez list is more or less just a loose copy of MobyGames (it mostly concentrated into determening the abandonware status of the games, not so much to find out other info). I have also often noticed that MobyGames and HOTU info was very different. Just keep that in mind as well.

BTW, many of the games on the site, that have the info missing, aren't all that difficult to find. Somehow the info just got lost during transfer I guess (like it happened to some LucasArts games - even though both publisher and producer are well known). Just take a look at LOOM (I just looked at the first game that popped into my mind and I'm not going to change the info yet, just so you see the example).

I uploaded the manual for Flashback cd version a while ago, as well as box scans, but they are still waiting to be added to the site.

The manual says Delphine, and back of the box shows 1994. Hope that helps. :)

Elite is a seminal space trading computer game, originally published by Acornsoft in 1984 for the BBC Micro and Acorn Electron computers. The game's title derives from one of the player's goals of raising their combat rating to the exalted heights of "Elite." It was written and developed by David Braben and Ian Bell, who had met while they were both undergraduates at Jesus College, Cambridge. Non-Acorn versions of the game were published by Firebird.
