The really weird thing is that Jazz Jackrabbit 1 is still sold, while Jazz Jackrabbit 2 is abandoned. Very peculiar, I know.

Weird. I was just about to post the same thing. If you need it I have the game too for when it becomes abandoned.

Hey I know that you guys have Jazzjackrabbit 2 on your site and its a great game. But I was wondering if you could get the original Jazz Jackrabbit on this site. Im surprised that part 2 is on here but not the original. Ive only been able to find shareware version of the first one (you get like 6 levels or something). DO you think you get get the full game?
Im sure this game has been brought up before but there are too many topics to search through!
Thanks. :ok:

As far as I can remember, Jazz Jackrabbit 2 is abandoned, therefore it's available here for download. Jazz Jackrabbit though isn't, as weird as it might sound. Sorry pal, but I don't think this nice game will make it's way to this site in the next time yet. :(

Jazz Jackrabbit 1 was recently ported to GBA, so that might have something to do with why that one isn't abandoned but the sequel (currently unavailable in any format) is.

Hey thanks anyways guys. But I actually was able to obtain the FULL version of Jazz Jackrabbit at another abandon site that you have mentioned on here. (Dont worry this site is awesome!) Also, out of curiosity, what makes a game officially abandoned? Does it mean its off the market or what?

Officially, a game is abandonware if the company that created it, or the company that published it, no longer supports it. Some people'll tell you it's about age, but that's bull. It's based on support status. If the official sites of the publisher/creator no longer mention the games or mention support for the games, then they're abandonware.

I was wondering if anyone could get a complete copy of the first Jazz Jackrabbit. I tried googling it and all i could come up with a bunch of stupid demos, one of which i had when i was a kid with exactly the same levels. If its ESA protected, well, thats life eh? But if anyone could help that would be awesome thanx. :bye:

I loved Jazz when I was young. Never bothered in searching this game in the net, though

Well, if you want something, you will buy it too. 25$ might be little too much for it, but the game is good, too.

I found Jazz Jackrabbit CD lying around, from 1994... Does that count as abandoned? If you've got the full version of JJ2 on the site, then it seems ok... I could upload it if anyone wants it. 54 MBs, is that too big? Or would compression take care of that?

The second was propably published by a different firm then the first one.
Ah, I just checked, the first one was sold by Epic, the second one by Gathering. There's your difference...

I apologize for my stupidity. Yes, I've read the sticky. I searched in the site search box, not the WL. That's a shame, the bonus levels are so cool.
Edit:Wasn't OMF sold by Epic?
Tom Henrik

OMF is freeware. :)

11-08-2006, 09:44 PM
Ah. Why? I bet they would get just as much money if they sold OMF. And what about Tyrian? (Thanks for that game, by the way! I always wanted 2000.)

Aren't all of those games mentioned it the list? It would be easier to type the name, than to make a post - and wait for a reply...

hi all, this is my first post and i registered because im interested in jazz jackrabbit abandon status, i wanted to know why epicclassics is no longer a valid source. that means that probably all the games in epicclassics that follow the rules of abandonia can be count as abandonware?
thanks
Nyerguds

http://www.epicgames.com/EpicClassics.html
That's why.
It's not a valid source because they sell the games without any affiliation with Epic Games. It's the same as people selling copies on ebay. It doesn't change the fact the game is 100% unsupported by its copyright owner.
So why isn't it on the site yet? I got the CD, I could upload it if you want...

We have the archive, a couple of screens that need cropping/resizing, but no review.

Huh, and at the beginning of the thread, wormpaul said that these things were all finished already. Did that get lost?
we already got the game + review + screenshots.
We only need an abandoned status

Probably the stuff was never uploaded on the FTP. And if it was, they deleted it afterwards. The archive itself was uploaded not long ago by jojo1541. 5 years is a long period of time...

thanks for the answer, that explanation convinced me :)
im working with some abandon games to make them "ready to play" for PSP, so thats why i wanted to know about the legal status of that game.
i think that theres a few versions of the game, i have the CD version with the bonus stages, dunno if all cd versions have it

I cant find the Review on FTP and in Grammar. so where is it? :dunno:

Why I think its abadonware
Although Epic Classics has been selling Jazz Jackrabbit for a while, it seems like Epic Classics hasn't been updated since 2008 and just recently around 2012/2014 their site is now for sale.
I can safely say the full version of Jazz Jackrabbit is Abadonware.

Yes. I was wrong to tell you to post request. Here (http://www.abandonia.com/vbullet/showpost.php?p=378645&postcount=33) is confirmed what you stated. Therefore, merging your topic with existing one. Please proceed and provide the link in ISO Cellar.
