List the five worst games you have played and why. Commercial releases only.

I am working on my list. So far I have

1. Mode- terrible, still trying to figure out what was supposed to be accomplished.

2. Dog Day

3. A Quiet Weekend in Capri - Reminds me of my parents vacation slide shows.

Have any of you played any of the Residents games? What did you think? I played Bad Day on the Midway and am still trying to make sense of it.

I hate RCT2, but probably that's because it is a step backwards from the first one with it's expansions. The worse thing is, that I waited and bought Totally RollerCoaster for a low price, and I had and have the attitude to not buy games at full price, but I was so excited that I couldn't wait in case of RCT2 (and I wanted to support the series and the makers). It's interesting, that I always bought games at full price that fell in price quite quickly, while I waited for low price editions or price reductions of games that seemingly never left their initial price behind...

I've didn't play t'll end those games, I really don't play games I don't like.
Pointless to do so.
I did try them, but ..... worthless ones (luckily they're all 'borowed' :p)
C&C Renegade, total screw up of the C&C gameplay.
Tomb Raider (ALL of them).
HL2 and Ep1 (Too easy).
HALO (pffffffrt big deal).

The 'bad feeling' that C&C R and the HL2 gave me was most about the total restriction of freedom of movement, scripted, guided games.
At least HALO had some *some* freedom of movement, a bit of scouting left, but not enough to fully enjoy the game.

Warhammer 40k: Chaos Gate is definitely on my list. An UFO clone, in many aspects barely a cheap copy of the original, even though it was released six years later...
Black Mirror is close second. Point-and-click adventure, with a promising beginning but very annoying puzzles. In several points of the game there are REAL-TIME waits until something occurs. Go and occupy yourself for quarter an hour until someone finds XXX for you, thankyouverymuch. I gave up near the end, since after an hour total a certain event still didn't happen even though I've been everywhere, got/done everything and talked to every character about everything as well. The first and last about five times over.

C&C Renegade, total screw up of the C&C gameplay.

Seconded strongly.

I forgot to mention Empire Earth. The only good point is the wide range of units, but then again they are unbalanced. Also an example of the price mystery I wrote of above - bought it for DM90 (€45), and few months later it was at €30, then €20, then €20 together with it's expansion Art of Conquest!

Kings Quest 8 is probably the worst game I have ever played. I liked the Kings Quest titles (in particular Kings Quest III), but Kings Quest 8 was simply unplayable. The interface was a pain and the gameplay in general not very nice. A sad end for a nice series.

Tough one, I'll have to come back to this one, but the biggest let-down last year, without a shaddow of a doubt: TES Oblivion.

A bloated, shiny piece of shite. Character creation as deep as in Pac Man, and magic more crippled than a chicken nugget. Add a world as interesting as yesterday's coleslaw and you have a failure of epic proportions.

Oblivion is certainly among the worst letdowns of any game I've ever played, though it does have some redeeming features among the rubbish: nice dungeon construction, and improved enemy AI.

Some games have nothing to offer. Nothing. Where's Fat Lou? was a horrendous Italian graphical adventure hybrid. Don't Quit Your Day Job showed that the famous Comedy Club knew nothing about quality in making a game. Last of the Mohicans was an attempt to make JF Cooper's bad novel into a formula RPG, without any success--even the pathing was so bad that your team would end up miles away from one another if you gave them a straight line to travel. Then there was an awful French graphical adventure which had nothing beyond music from Wagner's Ring Cycle and a few R-rated animated teasers. Can't remember the name, and it's just as well.

Dungeon Lords is one of the worst RPG's i have ever played buggy weak story crappy fighting and laggy multiplayer also bad character and weapon design.

Icewind dale horrible RPG bad story linear and boring complete pile of crap compared to Baldur's gate series.

Serious Sam II is repetitive and tedious and i tried it in multiplayer that normally makes crap FPS a little better but it didn't help.

Universe at War I dislike this game it has horrible gameplay and ugly unit designs.

Rome Total War I really hate this game really terrible AI and bad unit balance the only thing it had going for it was its graphics and the massive scale of its battles but you get tired of the game after that wares off quickly there is nothing to like about it some mods balanced out the units but couldn't fix the AI compared to Shogun Total War and Medieval Total War.
Rome was a big disappointment as they could have made the game something really special but they failed miserably its a pity as both Shogun Total War and Medieval Total War are great games.

If I can think of any more terrible games i may amend this list.

I spented about 10 hours to a crappy game called "Celebrity Deathmatch" on playstation. It was fun for a while, but then it started to crow into an annoying piece of cancerous diarhea.

The worst game I've played is Medal of Honor: Rising Sun. Stupid, restrictive and scripted in all it's aspects.... it didn't even make me angry, it left me bored to death.

'Scuze me poindexters, but please don't post games in here that we KNOW are obviously not "the most terrible ever". Please don't tell me you consider Rome Total War as bad as ET or Daikatana ever.

Usually this only means you hate popular/average/unintuitive games.
Which does not mean a game is "terrible".

Something that is pretty well constructed structurally with good game balance and production values (things that usually aren't up to opinion most of time) then it's not the worst game ever.

EDIT: Forget to mention, don't list games you HATE, list games that are genuinely terrible that you have played, this means stop posting Halo because it's nothing special, that's not a good reason.

_r.u.s.s. do you think Oblivion, Empire Earth, C&C Renegade, Halo and Warhammer 40k: Chaos Gate are all shit too i wouldnt call Oblivion the worst game ever made it is better then Icewind dale.

I thought this topic was about what people thought of a game not its technical production level I think Rome Total War is unplayable in my opinion because its not challenging in any way the AI is total crap and that makes the game horrible too me and the game balance is total shit.

Blood-Pigggy I never played ET or Daikatana so I cant comment on them.
Also Blood-Pigggy calling everyone that posted games that you dont think are terrible games Nerds is just stupid.

Im sure some person out there think ET and Daikatana are good games thats why everyone is entitled to their opinion and thats what this Topic is about isnt it?

I based my list from games released at the same time and only games that i played near first release as I dont think its fair to compare a really old game to a new one like putting Doom against Crysis it just doesn't work maybe thats why some of you think my choices of games are weird because some really old game that was really bad.

_r.u.s.s. I dont like any of the dungeons and dragons rpgs from black isle as the only other ones are Icewind Dale II and Planescape Torment and i dont think they are that good.
I like the Baldur's Gate Series that was developed by Bioware not Black Isle.
Black Isle only assisted in the making of Baldur's Gate and didn't create it.

"Because Black Isle Studios is the role-playing game developer which published the Baldur's Gate series, many people mistakenly believe that Black Isle Studios developed the Baldur's Gate series. This is false; the Baldur's Gate series was developed by BioWare."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_Isle_Studios

Also I dont hate all Black Isle Studios games i think Fallout and Fallout 2 are great games but the change from RPG to Hack and Slash RPG made Icewind Dale Repetitive and boring for me.

I did not like Ultima 8, especially due to a horrid clipping bug which had me jumping off the screen and then drowning. I did not like Sim Health, I do not even consider it a game, it seemed to be more education than fun, to be honest, it wasn't too bad, it was just mislabeled.. I hated Ultima 9 due to the bugs, but since they've been fixed it has been a pretty fun game. I do not like Detroit, I could never get my cars to sell, even when I priced it close to cost. I also dislike the game Galactic Empire, I owned the game, and not once could I get it to run without a "Divide by Zero Error" and I was running DOS 6.2 on a 386 at the time.

1. HALO - Way too overrated, overhyped, and single player campaigns were immensly boring. Trite storyline which involved some kinda Alien invasion.

2. Dune 2000 - Dune 2 with better interpace. Too same as Dune 2.

3. Universal Combat - Good concept, f***ing bad presentation. I cannot give even one point to this game!

4. Freedom Fighter - Overrated, boring, and poor tactical aspects make this game one of the most boring 3rd person shooter game EVER!!

5. Gods : Land of infinity - Total disgrace to RPG genre. Outdated graphic, crappy gameplay and sound make this game one of the worst RPG games ever.

**

These were 5 worst games I've EVER played!

Ok, here's another one:

"The I Of The Dragon" - A game that wants to be a lot of genres, and fails in everyone of them, leaving you with a "what the hell is this?" feeling, before you are bored into a coma: Every mission is the same: Kill all enemies and their lairs. Then, occationally, you get to build a town which apparently is very important, but it doesn't offer anything significant to the game, it's just a town that has to be defended against enemy attacks.... BOOOOORING!

Genres it wants to be:
RPG: You get XP by killing enemies and lairs, and when you level up, you get to distribute some points to your stats, or you can get a new spell. That's it... No chance of getting into the character, no plot, no story, just an endless series of "destroy all monsters" missions.

Simulator: A dragon simulator? That sounds cool... Unfortunately, it's not a sim. You are a dragon, the flying one, but there is nothing here that makes this dragon any different from any of the Mario bros.

Strategy: The world is a bunch of provinces with lame names. You can move between them as new provinces are unlocked. You can build 1 town in each of them.... Nope, there is nothing here that makes the game a strategy game. The towns are completly useless except for one thing: With a town, the enemy can't build new lairs. So what? They still can invade the province.

Add voice acting so daft it makes your head hurt. Seriously, even the worst voice acting from Ultima IX is worthy of praise and worship compared to this.

Here's mine in no particular order. Note: some of these games may not the worst, just the worst experience I've had.

Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 - Looked so promising. The ability to ride the coasters was amazing. But, the simulation itself was flawed and buggy. I could never get the damn VIPs to stay in the park. And whoa to the person trying to build a simple walkway. You could go broke just try to flatten the ground just right to get a decent path.

Bard's Tale (NES) - Long time ago I played this on the NES. It was just so bland. It had no color or flavor to it. I was probably spoiled from other, better games at the time. I gave it up.

Dr. Jeckyl and Mr. Hyde (NES) - This is a famous one from the Angry Video Game Nerd series. I rented this one one summber. 90% of the game you are the weak Dr. Jekyl trying to swat bees with your useless cane and trying to use your meager jump to get over bland obstacles. Great combo of frustrating and boring.

Those are the only that stick out. I'm sure I've played worse put have since put them out of my memory forever. It's the one's you spend money on and have let down expectations for that you remember.

To the guy who mentioned Mode: I never played that one but it sticks out in my mind because it was the only game to get a single digit percent score in PC Gamer magazine. What was it like?

Just a reminder that's been mentioned, before: this isn't a thread about buggy games, or games that didn't manage to live up to their hype. This is about games so hideous they made you want to bathe in holy water and then strip your skin off and howl at the moon. Games that are incredibly bad in all respects, games that no sane human being could ever enjoy, unless they had first lost their souls forever.

Got it? ;)

Ok, I have one here that almost everybody should agree with. It is Mastertronicīs "Barbarian". The controls are just terrible. You had to use the F keys for everything, or else an extremely slow point and click interface. Having in mind this is a kind of action game, itīs just plainly stupid.

The sad thing is, being the only game I had in my first PC, I played it to the end. Thank godness then came "Loom" and "Monty Phyton Flying Circus"

Five worst games... hmmmmmm...

In no particular order...

* Soul Fighter (Dreamcast)- This game does so much wrong. The music sounds like it was recorded next to a speaker that was too loud, and it has a camera system that's drunk. There's also a boss that quite literally can't be beaten without cheating, a bad Sean Connery impersonator for an announcer during the very dull cinemas, an ending that makes no sense, and iffy graphics. Yeah, the frame rate stays around 60fps the whole game, but that just makes it a smooth moving turd.

* Slaughter Sport (Genesis)- Horrid and laggy controls, dull characters, really bad music, poor collision detection, really choppy animation, and of course, a very limited set of moves. It all adds up to a fun-filled migraine headache in a plastic casing.

* Contra Force (NES)- Somehow, the run n' gun legacy was turned into a flicker-filled, slow paced, shadow of its previous entries. Add in laggy controls and questionable sound quality by NES standards, and we've got a Contra game best left in a dark, dark corner of the gaming closet.

* Road Riot 4WD (SNES)- The arcade game wasn't too bad for an arcade racer. The SNES version? AHHHHHHHHH HA HA HA HAAAAAA! The supposed physics that take place in the turns are weird, the graphics are bad, the controls are worse, and the CPU cars just love to cheat. I felt gypped out of ninety-nine cents.

* Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation (Dreamcast)- Wow. Talk about taking a series in the wrong direction. The only good part of this game was its cinemas. The rest of the game is just bad. Sub-par and glitchy graphics, iffy controls and hit detection, and gameplay that gives you no clues or hints as to what in God's name you're supposed to do next. Once you get a little ways into the game, you're pretty much just abandoned. I had to use a faq to figure out half of the game, and what it told me I had to do at times made absolutely no sense. I'm honestly surprised the series didn't die with this entry.

Anyway, those are some of the worst games I've been subjected to.

Can't think of five specific games, but...

Out of all the games I have played:

1. 99% of movie licensed games sucked.
2. 89% of EA SPORTS sequels sucked.
3. 86% of 1st person shooters sucked.
4. 83% of new games in general sucked.
...
5. Vivendi sucks.

That being said, here's my list:
5. Pit-Fighter (PC)
4. WWF WrestleMania (1990, PC)
3. International Karate (PC)
2. The Lords Of Tantrazz
1. WWE RAW (PC)

MOO3

It is like those winter outfits that forklift operators sometimes wear-- a hideous combination flourescent orange and retroreflective yellow. So eye-searing that it is almost invisible. I have read novels that seemed shorter than the game manual. The user interface has such a steep learning curve that I could not be bothered to get past the third turn.

I would almost call it the Highlander2* of computer games, except that I still enjoy the original.

* A sequel so bad that you hate the original film

first of all the gold version of dune 2000 was really woth it, because dune 2 was by far the coolest game of that kind(and the mother of c and c) and second even thought it looked similiar dune 2 it played more like command and conquer. you know this tells you someone who played many hours dune 2 on mega drive, than many hours dune 2 on pc and than dune 2000 the game rocked and still the greatest of its kind command and conquer really sucked compared to that game.... by the way strange i just got recommendation for a game called clan because that clan thingy was pretty cool in dune too lol, or every time the heart attack when the sandworm came...
i really could least here at least 30 games, were everybody would agree with me that those are the worst games ever but my memory is pretty bad i will update it when remember them lol
one of the most annoying was probably duck hunt for nes lol

Don't have to many games but here are my least favorites

5. C&C Renegade

4. Age Of Empires (The entire series)

3. Journey To The Center Of The Earth

2. Destination Treasure ISland

1.The Real Stinker: UNversal Combat
