Wow I wish i had the room to store my games in their boxes - I only do that with the 3.5" versions. I got way too many CD games though - I got a big wall rack that holdes 800+ CDs and use a large book case to store my DVD box games. I started neatly packing manuals together though so I can easily find them for each game.

If I ever rent a house I'll definately dedicate a room to something like this - make my work of it to pose all my most rarest games, create shelves that display them nicely.

Nothing like my collection of only 150+ games. Yours definitely beats it, especially since all of your games are in packages while many of my have been bought just in CD jewel cases (albeit still with manuals in them :D).

When I move to a bigger place, I want a room dedicated just to displaying games like that - but it will take up considerably more space ;) Just storing the CDs & DVD takes up more space than what is being used in that picture, and that's without using the boxes or freebies I gathered over the years :P

I've begun collecting the rarer games a few years ago - an expensive hobby but maybe, in 50 years, it will be worth a small fortune :) A lot of games today are already incredibly hard to find so with a bit of luck, PC games will be considered high collectible in the future.

I'd much rather keep them myself. Unless they are really ridiculously expensive, say 100-200€ per game. And even then I'd first give out the worst games.

I sold Touché Fifth Musketeer for 100 euros (the dollar = euro back then) back in 2001 to an American - thought it was silly to keep it since I had gotten it for 5 euros from ebay :P. I doubt I'll never come accross it again and if I do, it will probably be for less ;)

With so many independent developers and plenty of competition in distribution outlets, PC games had lots of floor space back then. Easily two-thirds of a store three times the size of the current GameStop monopolies was given over to those games, with the rest devoted to applications. It seemed to me much more common back then to find adults searching for games than now, where young teens snicker (through their noses) if anybody over the age of 17 enters a game store. Whom do they think makes the games they play? ;)

In fact, the game portion of the store was divided up by genre: RPGs on one wall, adventure titles over there, strategy titles over there, etc. And most games came with a lot of content back then, too: huge manuals, maps and foldouts, little trinkets, sometimes fake diaries, etc. Some of this of course still occurs, but usually only among indie publishers. I'm working my way now through the PDF manual for Forge of Freedom. Okay, it's not printed out in the download I paid for, but still, it's intense. :D

Great collection! Great style! I dont have that much space, but I also have a few really old games, Ultima series and similar vintages. Ultima IV, for example. I didnt buy it personally at the time... it was a Christmas present, I was too small to spend that much money myself :-)

Only if you meant to sell them, and no longer had an interest in keeping them. I've thrown out the boxes of most of my games over the years though I've always kept the manuals (and odds and ends) that came with them. In a very few cases, I kept the boxes, as with Magic Candle I, Ultima IV, and Might and Magic III. These won't be sold--so I'll never make any money off them. And that's fine with me.

not in germany when i was young and they werent verry organized nor did anyone had a clue... but the worst of all were the guys who soled video games im described the game rygar and they sold me goonies hey come one were are the similarities?

the original Zork? im not sure when that came out but if it came out before 1977 you beat my Telestar Pong :)

An Apple II is a computer so yes, however mine is an Apple II copy as well which is older than UI+UII.
The C64 versions and others were released later, I had a cracked copy of the C64 version, much like any other C64 game I had.
