Like the topic said i have problems with the new drivers 169.09 for 8800 and the 320x200 resolution for old games and AGS adventures , example : Aaron's Epic Journey or other games written under AGS that need 320x200 . Looks like Nvidia i going to remove it from the default resolutions , just like Microsoft removed 8-bit palletized textures (feature of dx6b that is needed by most of win95/98 games) from DX9c.

No i don't have a LCD yet , because think they are crappy with they life time and the graphics looks blurry on low res .

Now the question is : are there any AGS configurators that can set up the resolution to 640x480 , and don't say i should install older drivers because this is not the solution if you would liked to run your favorite AGS game in the future .

Yes i know some of AGS games have the build in menu , but some don't have it and this is a pain in the azz , thank god that dosbox can upscale the graphics ...

thanks in advance if you have a solution to this problem

did you try rightclick->properties->compatibility->run program in 640x480?

also check if you find something in here:
-go to "nvidia display" (in desktop properties->settings->advanced)
-Digital Flat Panel Settings
-see many different optinos for scaling

it changes the desktop resolution not the game specific resolution dummy :P
-go to "nvidia display" (in desktop properties->settings->advanced)
-Digital Flat Panel Settings
-see many different optinos for scaling
and nope this only scales the image to fit on the screen of your monitor
and this directions are for the old menu not the new one , for the new one the scaling is in desktop properties->settings->advanced>Nvidia control panel>Display>Manage Custom resolutions

Guess now the only solution that came into my mind is to some how force it to window mode , bump the desktop resolution to 640x480 so the window would be big enough to enjoy

try dxwnd for the windowed mode: dxwnd.zip - 0.22MB (http://www.zshare.net/download/53207214797d30/)

it contains 2 versions. one is for 2d stuff and one works better with 3d games. not sure if it's possible to upsize to 640x480 though. keep these for other games as well though :D

or if you still want to run it in fullscreen, this just reminded me of something, you could try setting your graphic adapter this default vga driver http://abandonia.com/vbullet/showthread.php?t=14152

this does not work in Winxp ,

@JJXB
Nice program will be useful when i will be playing games on LCD "when" i will be forced to buy a LCD (like this would happen), anyway guess what on the 2d it crashes and on the 3d it writes the same message :D :lol:

guess now i will try winxp Safemode and hope that in this state the default Vga drivers will enable 320x200

this does not work in Winxp ,
it does
windows needs and uses startadt vga driver before you install your real gpu one

btw safe mode runs on stardart vga driver as well

edit: i made a little search for you http://support.microsoft.com/kb/268852/en-us

eeehhmm ok thanks for your time , but looks like there is a slight language barrier here because i allready said the same thing you just did it in the last post

1."this does not work in Winxp" , Why in Vista you can "pick" Vga or driver in the menu , in Winxp you can only ''Uninstall" "Restart" then "pick" the Vga driver. {and this misses the hole point of this topic aye}

2. "guess now i will try winxp Safemode and hope that in this state the default Vga drivers will enable 320x200" shows the answer right above

anyway thanks for the "battle of the minds" that brought the solution "Safemode is the key for running games in full screen 320x200 resolution"

language barrier? :P you said "it doesn't work" how the heck am i supposed to know what do you mean.

btw you don't have to uinstall it, you can just temporarely disable it, therefore windows will use standart one. that's exactly the same thing as choosing standart driver in vista
