Why would you want to handle more than SIX keys at the same time?!

No. This is strictly a hardware thing.

oh. Icewolf, this is for a game called O2Jam. It's a rhythm game where you have to use 7 keys.

How about a joypad or joystick? Many of them have 8 or more keys which probably can be pressed all at once.

This is stricly hardware related, you would need to purchase a special keyboard if you want more keys pressed at the same time.

About all the basic keyboards I know have this kind of limitation.

I think 6 is actually pretty high. Keyboards are meant for typing.

If you can reconfigure the keys, you may get more as some keys clash more with each other.

Yeah, that sucks when playing SC2 on a keyboard. It's odd how old DOS era keyboards didn't have those limitations (I remember playing many two player games on one keyboard).

I don't know guys, I think it's a windows limitation.

nah. look what i found http://www.sjbaker.org/steve/omniv/keyboards_are_evil.html

10. Conclusion
It's pretty simple: Use diodes in series with your switches! What kind of diodes, you may ask? Use 1N4148 switching diodes and you'll have no problems! [/b]Happy Welding!

but that would actualy still not do a muck and won't let you press more keys than it's allowed anyways, so nevermind :P

Think I read somewhere that certain keys are linked, hence you cannot press more than a certain number - only three, if you're unlucky - of keys at the same time: http://www.dribin.org/dave/keyboard/one_html/

Oh... _r.u.s.s. basically said just that

What you could do is try to sit down with notepad and test out what your keyboard matrix might look like and what keys that result in a lock.

I poked a bit and found out that for example my QWETYIP and AWDCBMP-keycombos can work without locking, however, I think that varies from keyboard to keyboard. Also, I think Ctrl Alt & Shift can be used along with most combos.

i don't usualy say stuff like this, but the 2 above posts are subdivision of my one with all the information included, even the mapped keyboard matrix :tai:

Well I did point that out... and also I thought I brought at least something to the table with the notepad sugestion... ah well.

What I usually do when playing splitscreen mp is to connect several USB keyboards, don't know if that'd work for you though...

This is so annoying! I sometimes try to improvise with my keyboard when I compose music but sometimes the keyboard locks. Does anyone know any non-locking keyboards? And don't suggest midi-keyboards..
