I am fortunate to have gotten a nintendo wii, and I am wondering what your opinions of games are. So far, I just have Wii sports. I have heard metroid is good, could anyone confirm this?
Thanks a ton

well, I would have to say zelda, what do you want to play? Everyone is different. Bioniclebert, what do you want to play?

Well I am mainly into FPS, hence me asking about metroid, but I haven't heard too much on metroid, as it just came out.

So I'd have to say I'm looking for a good FPS, or any of the classic titles.

SSX 3, Super Mario Strikers (REALLY GOOD), Red Steel (I liked it), and Wario Ware.

well, metroid is really good, there will be a new brothers in arms soon, what do you think for the virtual console?

I got to try red steel, sorry that I forgot to mention that. I didn't like the controls, but that's just my opinion.

I did like strikers on the Gamecube, thanks for the recommendation.

As for the virtual console, I am just not so sure how this works. From what I understand it is something like iTunes.

it's easy. You buy the games from on the wii, or you use a Wii Points card. You do know how to get the card don't you?

Well I have seen them in walmart LOL. What I meant, was that, how the point system works. I know that you use points to get things, but am kind of.... unsure how this works.

well you use the points to buy the games, you use the card like a credit card kind of, and put in the code, and then it tells your wii that you have points to buy things? What would you get on the VC?

I think we're talking about two different things.

What I do know, is that you need points to buy games.

What I don't know is:
What games you can get (well I guess I could check... but some recommendations could be nice)
How much each one costs
If there is any difference buying points with a credit card (like on the wii) or from buying it at the store.

Usually the games are pretty cheap, and you can get a lot of different kinds, what ones would you want?

My favorite games are

NES:
Super mario bros
Megaman 2
Metroid

SNES
Super metroid
Earthbound
Chrono trigger

N64:
Goldeneye 64
Guantlet legends

Again, suggestions are nice.
I saw a video on youtube, where a guy bought the game "columns". I thought it was nice to see a video of a game, even though it wasn't one that seemed interesting.

well, i think you can get a couple of those games on VC, I know the metroids, but I don't know about goldeneye. I think they might get it, but I don't know, Do you know your friend code? we could play.

I do not, but thanks for the help. That's all the info I need for now, I guess.
(I still need to look up those prices though)

I think all Metroid games are worth the time, including the Prime series.

For Wii originals, I'd say go for Rayman Raving Rabidds and Prince of Persia: Rival Swords.

As for Virtual Console titles, if you live in America get Super Metroid and Super Mario 64, if not, get Wonderboy in Monsterworld and Super Mario 64.

I've also heard that LYlatwars/Star Fox 64 is pretty good as well.

Wario ware is really fun for Wii first timers. Same with Mario party 8, it really suits the Wii to a tee. So much better with a group of friends (like most Wii titles!)

I played zelda on GC and it was great, well worth it.

Personally, I cant wait for smash bros brawl in December!!

I think the Wii hasnt shown its true potential yet, just wait for the games and mechanics in a year or two.... mmmm

Unfortunately, looks like Goldeneye won't be able to make it to the Virtual Console (legal issues...), but on a more contemporary note, I recommend Excite Truck very highly. It's a lot of fun; people who come round and play it love it. I find it the most intuitive racing game I've ever played!

Also, Twilight Princess needs a mention for being absolutely and mind-bogglingly awesome and Wario Ware is another top, top title! ^_^

Resident evil 4 for the Wii is also supposed to be good, so if you haven't played it yet it might be worth checking out.

I was one that luckily got a wii within 1-2 months of launch. I even got frost bite on my ears for it while me and my friend walked with our wiis on the side of a high-way in winter to get to the bus station. Though I was dissapointed in it, I would recommend Wario Ware (Definetly), Godfather and Resident Evil 4. I traded my wii for a 360 though and I prefer the 360.

I am sorry but if you didn't like red steel for the controls you aren't going to like any FPS's on the wii.

I personally really enjoyed Call of duty 3. So what if it lacked the multiplayer. The Singleplayer with the controls was so immersive. Also if you can rent it get Whatcha macallit Second oppinion. The surgery game. It is extreamly fun for the first week and is a great rental.

Not really, Metroid Prime 3's controls are much better than Red Steel's.

No mention of Super Paper Mario? That's gotta be one of my favorite Wii games. A very original and kind-of bizarre action/rpg/platformer/everythingthat'sgoodinthisworld game.

Also, nothing on the VC beats Punch-Out!

Definitely Zack and Wiki. It's a point and click game reminiscent of the adventure games of old, and seriously some of the most fun I've had with a game in a long time. The Wii is the perfect console for this genre, and I hope this game revives it.

The DS has been doing a good job with point and click adventure games as well.
Try out the semi-Myst game "Hotel Dusk" if you want to try it out.

Seems to be the right topic. Although it's quite old right now.

I bought a Wii some days ago, although I prefered a PS3. But my girlfriend persuaded me to buy nintendos console. Her argument was that she wouldn't play with me on one of the next gen console cause she isn't a core gamer, nor something in an equal direction.

But now I'm not sure really if I will be able to love the wii. Or if I will trade it in the near future. I own Twilight Princess, MP8 and the sports game. Zelda is okay although graphics are a bit blurrish. MP8 isn't really my piece of cake...
I'm afraid that I spent a lot of money for something that I don't like now that I own it...HELP!

The top five Wii games I've played are probably, in no particular order:

Zelda: Twilight Princess
Super Mario Galaxy
Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga
Okami
Zack & Wiki

These are all great -- especially Zelda, Super Mario Galaxy, and Okami. Those will hold special places in my gamer's heart FOREVER. :)
