Yeah, I know, use DOSBox. But I don't want to run the game on modern hardware. I want to run it on an original 8086 machine. So how do I write CONGO.IMG to a floppy so I can boot it on my old Amstrad PPC640?

There is plenty freeware stuff to find on Teh internet to do such things.

.

I usually use the first one.

You're welcome.

The first one has the advantage it can read/write compressed images also.
In the settings of the first one disable 'description' in 'settings' before read/writing a new image for max compability with other programs

The possiblities to save floppy image files for the first one are:
Uncompressed *.img -> maximum compability with other programs.
Compressed *.imz -> smaller, not compatible with all image programs.
Self-extracting *.exe -> creates a selfextracting image file, you don't need the program to write the image on a floppy.
It's an excellent program to backup your valuable game flops.

About the second one:
If you have a lot of games on floppies, and you want to backup them on CD or so, remember to store each in a own folder.
It read/write *cyl.bin format, would be a complete mess if you put all the flops in one folder.

Thought a bit explaination wouldn't be bad here, as you didn't seem to know much about floppy images.
We all had to learn once ......

WinImage does the job for me. Pretty handy at creating/modifying images too.
I made a Wibarm booter image with it, since the game works agonizingly slow if ran from a HDD - both floppies of the game plus the user data disk plus the simplest bootdisk ever all fit on a single 1,44 MB floppy and work just perfectly.

WinImage, that's shareware isn't it?
Is it still fully functional after 30 days ?

Seems like it isn't 30 days since installation, but 30 days in which the program was used at least once.
I installed my copy three or four months ago, and so far it's not even on the 10th day yet. :D
