I mean, Planet Football. Ok, it was a soccer game. Ok, I bought it when I was a child. I tried EVERYTHING... and i mean, everything (8086, 80846, Pentium, Amd2, Amd3, within or without windows, within or without dos, all conventional memory, all expand memory, all extendend memory, slim config.sys run, 2Ghz with Dosbox)... to keep it running, and then... nothing happened! Thought it was a damage version, download another version, then try again and... nothing! Never saw a soccer game, just intro, some static video, keep clicking, password protection, then... and stop. Black screen. Keyboard freezes. Goodbye.

Sorry for the introduction :tomato: , in short I ask: did someone ever played this game? What kind of configuration this lucky pc had?

That's funny.
You can down it from Hotu (rip), runs in dosbox 0.71, freshly installed, nothing to alter.
I always mount a C:\games as C: and CD to the gamedir, don't even know if it's nessecary here.
Only run setup to set sounds IRQ7,DMA1.
Run game with menu.
That's it.
Don't forget to configure your keysettings.

:bleh:

The gameplay itself?
Worthless. Even if you can play with 2, one on the keyboard and the other with joystick.
But really worthless

Already done, but nobody's home. :sos:

I think Hotu has a complete version (there was only disks version if I know well). I've tried with or without sound. With or without dosbox. Never start a soccer match, absolutely don't know why :wallbash:

It is listed as rip on Hotu. Can be it's the full version. Never had it before so I wouldn't know.

Do you try to run it in dosbox 0.71 with nothing changed in the config file?
I think more about the screen settings here. (scalers and such)
Run setup once,IRQ is set ori to 5 alter to 7.
Works flawless here.
If you're on a flatscreen it will probably only run in a window.

That's all I can say.

Downed the game approx 1 month ago for the kids, don't think its another download now.
(The kids don't like it afterall)

Was me above, forgot to log in.

You always can try a fresh installed dosbox0.71 to be sure nothing is altered in the conf file.
The info screen in setup says the game only runs with a soundblaster.
The game only runs if you start with menu, you get a screen where you can choose your nationality.

To give you an idea what you don't really miss, Argentina<-> Colombia, I'm the one with that green triangle on the feet:

Gonna give it a try in VPC-Dos6.22 later today.

Who? Me ? Naaaaaa, never.

About VPC: forget it.
VPC/Dos6.22, EMM386 exclusion fault something whatever blabla, when I rem out EMM386 not enough memory.
Complete crash in VPC/W3.11.
Also crash on my ol' P1 with MSdos 6.22.

Dosbox it is. Seems more compatible than Dos itself, LOLl.
Weird thing is that EMS=TRUE in dosbox.

It is, you bet. Every DOS machine was different and "PC IBM 100% compatible" meant "90% compatible if you're not out of luck".

Betcha. My DOS 486 had problems running Power Dolls and Dragonriders of Pern - and both of these run perfectly on DOSBox. :D

*Update
Complete crash in VPC/W98SE, but:
Runs also in VPC/W98SE -> restart in dosmode and with a loaded dos-mousedriver.

Much, much too fast, but runs.

What a weird situation.
Crash in VPC/Dos6.22 but runs in VPC/Dos7.
I begin to suspect the mouse driver, the one I used in VPC/Dos7 is the one from the old caldera dos, in Dos6.22 I use the old Imouse from logitech.

Nowadays I think Planet Football programmers are working hard in their cornfield and it doesn't seem a great loss for computer science after all :hammer:
