Man what a good game. This was the very hight of DOS adventure gaming. Released in July 1995 it was the last (sadly) of the classic Star Terk adventures to be released and also the last good star trek game to be released for years after wards. It had wonderfully cinamatics and very well done prerendered 3d models of the entire cast. Also voice acting from all the main characters of TNG. A Trekkie could not ask for more then that in a Star Trek game. Non-Trekkie's would also demand good gameplay and even they got what they wanted from STTNG-AFU. A solid and inspired adventure game from beginning to end. The only thing I can find wrong with it is that the settings are not all that Star Trek like but it's a minor gripe.
I bought this game again yesterday. Too bad my computer is not fast enough to properly emulate it with DOSBox. I will have to wait a few months for my new computer before I can play it again.

I suppose it is the wrong place to ask for it, but the post is Star-treck oriented so i will ask it here.... I remember that there was a very very old "star treck" game in the 80s ( i remember playing it in my Amstrad 6128 ) and in that game you controlled the "Enterprise" - Something like a "Star treck emulator". Does this game still exists? can it be found somewhere for the PC ?

Actually never heard of that game but I never worked on an Amstrad.

It was released for amstrad 6128 and Atari ST for sure... But i don't know if it was released and for the PCs ( most propably not... The PCs were considered only as bussiness machines at that time and very few games were released ) And i remember that it was considered a "super" game in its age. It had digitized voices of the crew etc....

What will you give me if I am able to find this Star Trek emulator, download it and supply it to the site?
That is, if it was ever made for use on the PC...
Tom Henrik

Yup!
This game was made into a PC-version.
It was called... DUN DUN DUN DUN
Star Trek Stratetic Operations Simulator!
Now, all that remains is to find a download.

Tom Henrik

Showing a picture from the game. This should make it easier to reckognise if it is the correct game.
The game was created in 1983 by Sega as an arcade game, and was later made for the Atari.

that must be. I remember it was made by atari.
Tom Henrik

Yes, well...
The only thing that remains is to find a download that ACTUALLY works!! Or does not ask me to give them my money!
LotharGR

LOL... i have quited from searching around the internet for games... 99% of the downloads are fake and take you to ads etc :) Or if they are not they ask you to pay.

They haven't met me yet. I'll find a download for the game.

(Because I know you are restless)
This is a Atari rom, though... You will have to download an emulator by yourself, Lothar.
Meanwhile I'll look further for the PC version.

Since I can't post pictures on the site.
Take a look at this one. It is the most detailed view of the game that I have found so far. There are pictures of everything ranging from cover scans to the pictures from the manual.

As i see in the picture this is the arcade game. It doesn't look like the game i remember at all... But i suppose that since its a arcade game it should be very different from its computer version.

That is Atari as I remember it. Blocky graphics hiding appaling gameplay :P .

Then I will have to find the sequel.
(But first I have to eat my dinner).

Do any of these pictures look familiar?
This game fits the description you have given above.

After some more searching on the net, I have produced a list of the Star Trek games made for the Atari.
Atari 2600
Star Trek
Star Trek II: The wrath of Khan
Star Trek III: The search for Spock
Star Trek Strategic Operations Simulator
Atari 5200
Star Trek III: The search for Spock
Star Trek Strategic Operations Simulator
Star Trek the Motion Picture
As far as I can see, it is only the Operations Simulator that fits the bill. That is why I posted the above link. That game is NOT made for Atari.

Tom, this pics do look familiar, and it is actually the modern version of the game i said.... But i didn't meant starfleet academy. The game i reffered above is a game from somewhere between 1985-1988, it was released for certain on Amstrad 6128 and CBM64, and in that game you controlled the "enterprise" like you were the captain ( you were controlling the weapons, the shields, navigation etc etc ). I don't remember "exactly" its name - after all i haven't played it or seen it for many years now... As i see it there is a good chance that it wasn't even ever released for the PCs. At that era they were considered completely as bussines machines, and very very few games were released for them.

Hmm, wish I knew.. anyways the original title of this topic was Star Trek: Final Unity.. well I have that CD.. still works ;) and runs great. :)
I use DOSBox CVS 0.62 (not official and built by me with the full array of options) :)...
mypixels.dk/forums..
Back to STTNG: Final Unity...
I loved this game is was the last best ST adventure game I do agree. I also have the Collector's Edition of TOS: Judgement Rites and located a ripped ISO of TOS: Star Trek 25th Annivesary games. :) I remember playing this game over and over and the game is playable in DOSBox CVS. You need to up Mouse Sensitivity to like 500+ for the mouse to be usable to click on things. Of course you need to downgrade everything to make it perform reasonably well on DOSBox.
I have a Pentium 4 2.4 gHz (Gateway All The Way Babay!) , 256 MBs of RAM, GeForce 4 Ti 4200 w/ AGP 8x and 128 mb onboard memory. My family growing up always got Gateways. We've only had 3 computers plus the old Commodore 64 computer for my entire life.
The oldest computer technically would be the Commodore 64. My dad keeps the old beast running because he listens to SID music on it for time to time and plays Drelbs which is a very old logic oriented game of run and not be killed. Very intelligent logic coding.
The next would be the old 386 SX/DX w/ 33 mHz (Turbo Speed Button ;)),4 MBs of RAM, 4x CD-ROM, A and B Floppy Drives, Soundblaster Pro Soundcard which still running and only has one bad sector on the original HardDrive with 210 mbs of space. :P.
The next after this would be the Pentium 2 w/ MMX, 64 MBs of RAM, Ensoniq Soundscape Wavetable Card, S3 Virge GX/DX card. Not bad for it's time and it kept going for a very long time until I went to college.
For which MY COMPUTER comes into existance.. Bah ha ha ha... Of course it's already obesolte but that's okay since it was far enough ahead when I bought it that I'm not too shabby ;).
But I still have much more in games to find :D...
