I need help getting Requiem Avenging Angel to work on XP. I'm having trouble finding the requpdate.exe file since 3do.com is nonexistent.

I keep getting a "sorry, directx 6 or later is required" message and the game simply will not launch no matter what graphics options I choose.

:sos:

1. Did you search the net for patches? Particularly, Fileplanet?
2. Did you run the game in compatibility mode?
3. Do you have an option to run OpenGl graphics? Did you try it?

Thanks for replying I do appreciate it.
To answer your questions;

All you need is req_1_2.exe and rqd3d13.exe

Install the 1.2 patch first, then install the 1.3 patch.

If the 1.3 patch refuses to install (it says "neither command line parameter is a..."), just rename your Requiem directory to D3d. The 1.3 patch should install just fine. Rename it back to Requiem to play the game. Incredibly stupid, yes, but it works.

Using WaffleKing's instructions, I was able to correctly configure the game.

Works great[/b]

Try that.

Use Requiem, Avenging Angel CD to install game under default directory (C:PROGRAM FILES). Download all patches for Requiem, Avenging Angel (ReqUpdate.exe, req_1_2.exe, rqd3d13.exe, rqsfw13.exe) and place into created directory (C:Program Files3DORequiem). Now, take this *entire* 3DO directory and place in XP's DESKTOP, MY DOCUMENTS directory. Start the patches in this order: ReqUpdate.exe, req_1_2.exe, rqd3d13.exe, rqsfw13.exe. All patches should (must!) work successfully. Now, place entire 3DO directory back under C:PROGRAM FILES directory. Copy D3D.EXE file that is already in the C:Program Files3DORequiem directory and place into "root" C: directory of your computer. Double click on Requiem.exe in C:Program Files3DORequiem. Program should now start, and with full hardware video support. This worked for me, so it should work for you -- but no guaranties!![/b]
That one needs Requpdate, so no go.

Will not run in Direct3D mode with DirectX 8 installed (looks for DirectX 6). Might work in software mode, though.[/b]
Might try that too.

If all that fails, just get a second HDD, set up Windows 98 on it and install DirectX 6.

Is there a way to downgrade the DirectX version?
I use Win98, and this blasted game requires Directx 6.0 EXACTLY. No matter what it says, it doesn't accept higher versions.

Of course the best thing would be to patch this game to accept the higher DirectXs.

If none are possible, then I think I'll have to buy a new harddisc... What a waste.

Not outside OS reinstallation, I'm afraid.

Then let's hope that Gadeji's loader is compatible for all versions.

Could someone translate the readme-file of the loader?
I'm stuck with spanish.
