Hi!
:ok:

Hi!
Please try to write English, cause that's one of the Forum rules here.
I probably wouldn't download the boot diskette at all but rather install DosBox which is available as well on this site under 'programs'.
There are several detailed manuals how to use DosBox :ok:

DosBox Download (http://dosbox.sourceforge.net/download.php?main=1)
DosBox Manual / Tutorial (http://www.abandonia.com/main.php?nav=index&FAQ=1)
:ok:

As you have Windows 9x, DOSBox and VDMSound are not an option - and you don't need them either.

These two topics should help:
How to configure DOS for gaming (http://www.abandonia.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=7302)
Win98 - Memory (http://www.abandonia.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=4382)
Another option is to use Abandonia's bootdisk (http://www.abandonia.com/main.php?nav=bootdisk).

If you have trouble with unpacking the archive, try downloading the most up-to-date version of your unpacker - that usually helps.

Oh, right, sorry... ^_^

If you have WIN98 you can choose in the shut down menu: "Reboot in Dos-Mode" or "shut down to Dos mode" or something like that. That should work for Dos-games.

As for the ZIP-file:
Do you have a proper pack-/unpack-program? Such as WinRAR or TugZIP?

I`ve tried WinRAR.
Trying to unpack Al-Quadim it says:

unexpected end of archive
archive got unexpected format or it is damaged

OK, this means you've probably had trouble with downloading the ZIP-file. (You don't necessarily notice that)
Re-download the archive and then try again.

Definitely a corrupted download. I just downloaded it and didn't have any problems with unpacking.

Finally I have succeeded.

After several corrupted downloads, close to a nervous breakdown, I choose a second computer and
that did it.
So there is definitely something wrong with my system.

Very helpfull were the topics "The Fith Horseman" replied, in getting a clue how to deal with DOS!

I had a nice evening, celebrating good old times.

So thanks to the both of you for your support!

If as you said, several download attempts ended up corrupted, there are two components that may be responsible and warrant being checked:

1. Hard Drive. Use a program capable of reading SMART data (like Everest, free for download from www.lavalys.com) to check that. Also, use a checksum generator (like the one integrated in Total Commander) to create checksums of several files (about 10-20 MB total size) and verify them couple times. If the checksums don't match, then it means the HDD is dying. SMART data can tell you more about it.

2. RAM memory. Memtest86 (freeware; disk image that needs recording on a clean floppy and booting the system from it) does the job.
