I noticed some of the thread games people were playing and thought I would 'attempt' to start one myself...if anyone is interested ;)
Thought we could try quotes from Movies...then people have to guess the film. Yes a little bit simple perhaps???
Eagle of Fire
05-11-2004, 06:01 PM
Ok, I'll start this.
"Do not grieve... Soon... I shall be one... with the Matrix..."
Kerebear
05-11-2004, 06:07 PM
Hmmm. Thinking about that one. Could be a trick.
Kerebear
05-11-2004, 06:09 PM
I'm gonna go with Matrix, but I could be completely tricked on that one.
Fenris

Transformers
Eagle of Fire
05-11-2004, 06:34 PM
You've been completely tricked... ;)
Edit: Fenris got it, it's from "The Transformers: The Movie".

Well than here we go:
"So ends another episode of 'Wasting Time with Faye'."
Kerebear
05-11-2004, 06:49 PM
I know that...I think, but only because I looked it up on the net which was cheating so I'm not submitting my answer cause that wouldn't be fair. That is if it is correct. :(
Fenris

You may PM your solution to me I'll tell you if you are right.
"So ends another episode of 'Wasting Time with Faye'."
Here's another quote from the same film:
"Disinformation is sometimes required for enemies as well as allies."
So the others have more stuff to google for :tomato:
Kerebear
05-11-2004, 07:05 PM
Yipee I got it right. even though I cheated. I am going to get a hold of the film though to check it out and see if its any good. Looks good. :D

Hello Sebatianos. That was Fenris's quote so I'll let him answer you!!! :)
How about...
"I think now, looking back...?"
Fenris
05-11-2004, 07:14 PM
Yep it's Cowboy Bebop: Knocking on heavans door. :ok:
A film (and series) worth to check.
Edit: Should be from "Platoon"

Platoon? How can you know that?
It sounds so general to me, it could de from dozens of movies!
Kerebear
05-11-2004, 07:24 PM
It was too easy. And your right Sebatianos, but if I had put "I think now looking back, we did not fight the enemy," it would have been way too easy. But I still think it is a very memorable line.
Fenris

Well, I had luck, I watched the film last weekend on DVD. If i remember right these are the first words of the finishing monologue to this film:
I think now, looking back, we did not fight the enemy, we fought ourselves. The enemy was in us. The war is over for me now, but it will always be there, the rest of my days. As I'm sure Elias will be, fighting with Barnes for what Rhah called "possession of my soul." There are times since, I've felt like a child, born of those two fathers. But be that as it may, those of us who did make it have an obligation to build again. To teach to others what we know, and to try with what's left of our lives to find a goodness and a meaning to this life.
And the finishing line as a very memorable one, as it is the film.

Well I think you did pretty well. It was a bit vague, and could have come from lots of different films. I didn't think about that. Got any more?

I'll make my next quote an easy one as I give you an additional hint. Its again an animated film and a very beautifull one, so close google and think about it. I have used stars for one particular word, otherwise it would be too easy.
"Heroes know that things must happen when it is time for them to happen. A quest may not simply be abandoned; ******** may go unrescued for a long time, but not forever; a happy ending cannot come in the middle of the story."

The Last Unicorn
Kerebear
05-11-2004, 07:40 PM
OK. I won't google. I'm thinking Ulysses, (don't know why - one of my favourite's though) but that was a series and I don't think it was ever made into a movie. So I'm going to think about it for a while, but if anyone else knows, jump in...cause I could be here for a while.
Fenris

Sebatianos got it:
"Heroes know that things must happen when it is time for them to happen. A quest may not simply be abandoned; unicorns may go unrescued for a long time, but not forever; a happy ending cannot come in the middle of the story."
Great film, great quote.
:ok:

Well done again. I remember seeing the film, but it was a long long time ago. Anyone ever see Watership down? My mum rented it for me when I was about six, but I cried so much in the first ten minutes she had to bring it back to the shop. I've been mentally scarred and too afraid to rent it since, so I've never seen it.
Bit off topic, sorry.
Another very easy one from me..."If you build it, he will come" I should try harder, but I've a memory like a goldfish. >' 0

Field of Dreams?
Kerebear
05-11-2004, 07:52 PM
:ok: Yup. Field of Dreams. I'm seriously going to have to go and put some movies in, to come up with some decent quotes.
Sebatianos
05-11-2004, 07:59 PM
I got a quote for you:
"But what I do I do because I like to do."
Love this movie, probably one of the best ever!
BTW. Do you have Field of Dreams, loved it, but never got a chance to tape it, buy it,...
Fenris

This has to be Clockwork Orange.
Kerebear
05-11-2004, 08:04 PM
Can I have another clue for that one? I have field of dreams, but its very old. I'll make you a copy if the tape isn't all worn out, if you are interested? It will probably be next week before I get a chance though. :D
I really suck at these quotes.
Sebatianos
05-11-2004, 08:04 PM
:ok: Oh what a joy it is, for your humble narrator, to have been given the answer so correctly.

I really suck at these quotes.
I'd love that!
I've seen that movie when it first came to Sky Movies (as a british TV premiere). My old VCR didn't even have the option to record cable  , so I couldn't get the movie.
If you're really interested in movie exchange - I have some really reare and good ones (The Great Dictator, Nosferatu,...)

A quote from an absolut brilliant film:
"He lets the last Hungarian go, and he goes running. He waits until his wife and kids are in the ground and he goes after the rest of the mob. He kills their kids, he kills their wives, he kills their parents and their parents' friends. He burns down the houses they grew up in and the stores they work in, he kills people that owe them money. And like that he was gone. Underground. No one has ever seen him again. He becomes a myth, a spook story that criminals tell their kids at night."

I can't tape off cable either. Its a pisser. I got them all at a video fair they have here where they sell off ex-rentals for practically nothing. I'll stick it on a tape and contact you next week for your address.
No need to exchange...unless you've any good horror films? Anyway, gotta go. I've a bottle of wine waiting to be drunk :drunk:
Talk to you all later. Enjoy the night. :bye:

I shall have a go.
"You think you're so cool don't you? You think you're so fucking cool? Well just once I would like to hear you scream, in pain."
I don't know whether its a well known movie but I hear this qoute quite a bit.

I'm going to add this, mainly cos I like the quote. :D
It's not a well known film so it might be a bit tricky.
Mostly I suggest you just enjoy the quote.
"Holy Sh*t. That girl's got a skunk on her head. Oh no, that's just your hair. But that's f**ked up!"
Ioncannon
06-11-2004, 10:22 PM
here is one I love,
"Yes. Shrubberies are my trade. I am a shrubber. My name is Roger the Shrubber. I arrange, design, and sell shrubberies."

Or maybe I mean all night!
Kerebear

Monty Pythons' are classic though!!
I'm going to butt in with another quote in the mean time...
"You now have T minus 10 minutes to reach minimum safe distance..."

The Last Boy Scout.
Bruce Willis, Damon Waynes.
Didn't think it was a popular movie but I love that line.
And the best part is he answers "Then play some rap music".
:roflol: :roflol: :roflol: :roflol: :roflol:
It's funny cause it's true.
Kerebear

I would say it was very popular at the time it was released. I saw it and loved it, but didn't remember it. Too much wine pehaps...
Sebatianos
07-11-2004, 07:03 AM
Didn't miss much. The movie was watchable and it can help pass the time, but it's not really good.
OK, here's another quote:
...when someone asks you if you're a god, you say, "Yes!"
