Hello fans of UT! This topic is made for discussing everything and anything about UT. Also, it will try to answer THE question: which UT is the best?

Onyx drew the first blood! Let the tournament begin!

I know that technically 2003 is the worst... but I just love it so much.

Very dissapointed they got rid of the Ripper though.

Dissapointed they got rid of the ripper? How about Assault mode?
UT 2004 is best, no competition, simply because of Onslaught mode.

I think the first UT is the best. I've played the others, but they just didn't appeal to me.

Interesting facts: Until I got the full version of UT, I played it's demo. It was so fun, it kept me playing two months! (yup, the demo; nowadays, demos are very short, but back in those years...)

Back in those days they were even shorter, lawl.

I've played the first one and 2004.
2004 has hugely expanded gameplay features, and better graphics too.

Huh? Why can't I vote? Well, add one point tu UT. Without numbers. Ok, 1999 perhaps :P

UT2003 was a big dissapointment. No more ripper. No more Assault mode. They replaced sniper with that shock thingy. And link gun? WTF? And, is it just me or new Flak (2k3/2k4) is weaker? Notice the capital F. Flak is THE weapon. All you Quakers stuff that railgun of yours up your... behind!

UT2004 is better than 2003, but UT is t3h roX0rz! :P

And no, I'm not trying to start UT vs. Q3 war here, i was joking.

The Flak Cannon was way too strong in the original UT, you could even take someone out at long range with it, someone with a Flak Cannon could usually only be trumped when he had low health or if someone blew him up with a rocket launcher.

Besides, 04 has vehicles. :D

first UT is the best of all series
onyx is absolutely right about UT2003 it was realy crappy game, the only "best" thing were graphics and bio. of characters.
2004 was better than 2003 mainly becouse of great new modes (onslaught, mutant- my favourite). but it's till worse compared to first one even it doesnt have all the mods UT2004 has.

You can avoid getting killed by flak even from short distance, I've seen it done on a LAN party once. Boy, that guy is GOOD. And shooting from a distance, well, if you got the skills to do it nobody can say it's wrong.

So, what about mods (not modEs)? Which are your favourite ones? I love Lazy Matrix (everything slows down to a crawl when you fight in close range, bullet effects from Matrix, and you can set it so that every weapon can do a headshot!), realistic weapons mod (don't know the real name, just imagine AK47 in UT :sneaky: ), and offcourse, Unreal 4 Ever mod! All of those are mods for original UT offcourse.

I have to go with UT also.
Best mods: The Bullet-time mod and OFCOURCE STRIKE FORCE.

IMHO Strike Force beats CS in playability.
The weapons are ballanced in a whole other way. I used to pwn with the MAC 10
It had virtually NO aim or precition, but made up for it with an enourmous RoF.
Tricky part was to get close enough.
Strike Force also featured penetrable objects like weak walls that an M4 or AK could penereate but not an Uzi.

If you have the chance to, try that mod.

I think I played that Strike Force mod... It was fun for a while.

I downloaded a 4 team CTF mod... would have been awesome if my computer didn't lag so much on it.

Anyway I never liked Assault all that much... Only modes I play are Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, CTF, and maybe a bit of Last Man Standing. 2003 brought in some of the most awesome maps.

It doesn't change the fact that UT sucks compared to 2004 :P

It doesn't change the fact that UT leads in this pool :D

Too bad this is the only pool that thinks so. :P

for real piggy, most of people who played UTs i know, also irl, consider UT to be better than UT2004

The problem usualy appears if you play UT2004 first and then UT. You get blinded by UT2004 graphics and miss the real values of UT.

I played UT first, then UT2003 and then UT2004. Thinking about it from a gameplay point of view I would go with 2004... it's got it all, vehicles, modes and maps.

Dissapointed they got rid of the ripper? How about Assault mode?
UT 2004 is best, no competition, simply because of Onslaught mode. [/b]That's kind of the beginning and the end of the argument for me. Here's my take on it:

UT2004 Pros:
-Onslaught
-vehicles
-midair jumps
-nicer graphics overall

UT Pros:
-Nicer effects for several weapons
-I LIKE powerful flakgun
-Ripper
-Chainsaw
-Assault modes more fun
-Better music overall

But <strike>onslaught and</strike> vehicles kind of outweight all the others combined for me. I'm a torlan junkie especially.

It doesn't change the fact that UT leads in this pool[/b]Yeah, although a pool of 11 people (so far) isn't statistically useful.
