hi I'm new at this I'm curious, I actually just tried installing C&C on my computer the other day I'm a real newb so I don't know pretty much anything you guys are talking about when it comes to dos or anything really so you'll have to dumb it down a shade.
I installed the game regularly like I did 5 years ago which was the last time I played it. however that was on an older computer and it had no problems this time however, it worked somewhat I installed it with soundblaster pro and the sound is there but very shuttery and patchy, I suppose I could live with it but I would rather get the sound quality back... any tips... again you'll have to dumb it down to my level of understanding :P thanks

Ok. First: I splitted your post from the topic you posted it on. By rule #3 (http://www.abandonia.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=2606), you should not resurect old threads from the dead. Usually I simply close them on sight, but since you've written such an elaborate question and it shows you are a nice guest, I simply splitted your post in a new topic. :)

If you wants complementary informations, you can read this post (http://www.abandonia.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=7302) in the archives.

I suggest that you download and try VDMSound for your sound problem in XP. If it doesn't work, DOSBox might be able to help you out but you'll need a pretty fast machine (better than a 2gig mhz) to make it work fine because DOSBox use a lot of ressources in the emulation.

It seems that your problems might be caused by incorrect sound card setup, be it because of wrong drivers or wrong settings input during the game setup.
