I am trying to play a windows 95/98 CD version of rayman on a wndows xp. Followed the instructions of the DOSBox thing but got stuck at "Download and Installation of Games" section, where it says type install at the prompt. When I do this it says "illegal command". Have I gone wrong somewhere earlier? Can someone go through it step by step (very basic!) please as i know little about computers! Thanks.

OK, first, DosBox will not be compatible with Windows games.
Try using Compatibility Modes in Windows instead (right-click on the executable -->[Properties]-->[Compatibility]).
If your version is a DOS/Windows hybrid (there were games like that), then you might try VDMSound.
Should that fail, then you can try DosBox.

As for help with commands, I'd better refer you to the official FAQ (http://dosbox.sourceforge.net/wiki/index.php)?.

Those compatibility modes never work, Fifth Horsy. Well at list for me. :tai:

I would like to know the solution for this problem. I have rayman for windows and it doesn't work from the same reason.

They do work. You just have to try a bit harder and tweak the memory settings, and sound-options.

But, perhaps this will help you (found using my über-l33t google-fu of course):

Compatibility Modes work for me, at least most of the time.
