:help: Try starting a Pent II comp runnin win98. Every normal boot get windows protection error. Please restart. Boots in safe mode. Have scanned registry, repaired registry, scandisked, viruscanned, defragged.

what next?

Just kidding, did it work originally or is it a new install ?
Have you tried unistalling all cards and accessories except the essentials, ie graphics card, keyboard, mouse etc ?

Agree there...

Sounds like a fresh start is the best..
Scan the harddrive first so no sectors are dmged..

Also have a look at your RAM. Problems with it often leads to blue screens at start up.

this unfortunately, is not the blue screen of death. Its one line saying the above. Please restart. Its a scvhool comp I'm trying to run, will try a new install/reformatting as soon as the net admin will allow me to dive into the great pile of school CD's.
