Well if it's WinXP Service Pack 2 then it can cause a lot of problems. I don't advice anyone to install it! My suggestion is to uninstall it!

Yeah, i got those same problems after installing the service pack 2

But all my games i play nowadays in DosBox...works just the most stable as possible...so let windows behind and use DosBox :angel:

I would not advice you to uninstall SP2. If you believe it or not but M$ made some important BugFixes with it.

Back to Pandemonium it works fine with SP2 so there must be another problem. Can't you even start those games or do they crash after a while?

Thats really quite strange. Are you behind a Firewall or Proxy? Its not a very clean solution but you might consider to try another browser, Firefox for example.

this title seems to work no problem in xp sp1... without even setting any compatibility settings. i guess they actually knew how to code properly!

Yes, we do answer on people's messages.

I think that the controls are arrow keys. If not, I think you can change your controls in options (press alt and then one of the arrow keys).

I don't have music, so I guess there isn't any with this package. Great game though! Very smooooth. Oddly though, the game looks best for me when I select the "fullscreen (if videocard is capable) 320x480, thousands of colours" option. With the higher resolutions, I get that crazy horizontal lines effect. Not nice! :blink:

Hi guys i have the same problem that it runs a little lets say strange...
it is runing ok and then it runs so fast that it seems to make a Jump...
in this case it is not playable :cry:

I downloaded this game and it looks great, but when I run it it goes straight to the title screen for a full 1/4 of a second and then runs a demo at extremely high speed. I can't get it to do anything else. :wall:

OK, so I found that I actually can actually start the game by jamming enter as fast as I can, but when I do it still plays way way way way way too fast. I mean I run forward and I'm dead, I jump and I'm back down in one frame. Is there any way I can slow this down or fix this somehow like I can in DosBox?

Hey I just tried VDMSound, but it didn't help at all, even when I ran the "speedset" that came with it. I guess speedset just works for DOS programs. :wall:

A little side note, this game was made by Fred Ford and Paul Reich III, the same powerhouse that made Star Control 1 & 2 and was in on Archon Ultra, as well as a host of other games and are currently making Tony Hawk for the Revoluion, er, Wii at their studio Toys for Bob.

I didn't even know Abandonia had this game. I will have to play it now. Too bad there was never a PC version of Unholy Wars.

I had trouble getting this game to run too. But eventually I got it. My only complaint is I tainted the experience by starting this game while I was playing Kirby 64. You know, they're similar games in that they're both side scrollers in 3D, but Kirby ofcourse is a more robust game with more attack options to explore, where as this is straight forward run, jump, and occasionally shoot if you can.

If I hadn't have started this game while I was in the middle of the other I could have enjoyed it on it's own merits. But as it was, the difficulties in geting it running as well as the artifacts left over from a patch together job of getting it running just made the whole experience dissapointing. Maybe if someone could get it running reliably on modern systems without the burst speedups that keep happening I'll give it a try again.

I've tested it a while ago in VPC2007/W98SE: no problems.

But to be honnest, it looks much better if you run the PS version in a PS emulator ... just saying.

Must have screenshots ... somewhere if I can find them.

Aaaah ..... found the post, thought it was here somewhere:
ePSXe is my favorit PS emu, that I of course don't use nor have 'cause it's illegal.
Fact is that if it wouldn't be illegal I would prefer running PS games on it, they would run better than on a real PS.
Shame Gran Tourismo for ePSXe isn't legal, it runs GREAT on it.
Certainly with the video plugins, that I don't have, of course.

BTW, I'm not so sure that Pandemonium runs in VPC, no 3D support in VPC.

Tried to get it running in a window in XP .... nope.
Goes full screen.

As you can see, better get a PS emulator and run it that way, much better then in VPC, seems it can't handle the graphics very well.

For those struggling with crash at startup, or "lines" in the game, here's a solution i found on another forum.
First you need a glide wrapper, like dgvoodoo. 1.50beta worked for me, others didn't.

After installing the game, delete pandy.exe and pandy.bat, from your game folder.
Then, from pandemonium CD, copy pandy3.exe and pandy3.bat to your game folder.
Unpack glide.dll from dgvoodoo1.50beta2.zip to the same folder, start the game with pandy3.exe.
If using another wrapper, do as they say.

I downloaded the game ISO from ISO cellar, but if you are using the archive (isn't that what they are called?), i suppose you don't need to do all that. Just get the wrapper, and start pandy3.exe

As a last resort, one can get the game to run by disabling all directraw- and direct x accelerations. However, this results in rather crude graphics (those "lines" mentioned earlier in the posts)

The first time I got the CD version of this game was when I bought it on the newsstand. :)

Now, I have the digital version on GOG.com. The game is cool and fun, but I remember that fighting the final boss was extremely difficult. :palm: :picard: :sick:
