Hay una pequeña anécdota acerca de como Freddy cobró vida: Al Lowe estaba discutiendo acerca de qué tan divertido podría ser un juego de computadora sobre el oeste. En el proceso, el intentó pronunciar "farmer" (granjero) y "rancher" (ranchero) al mismo tiempo. Así surgió "farmer-cist" y de esta manera nació "Freddy Pharkas, Frontier Pharmacist".

Freddy Pharkas, Frontier Pharmacist es una gran aventura realizada por Sierra en 1992. Esta toma lugar en Coarsegold, California (un pueblo antes invadido por La Fiebre del Oro en el viejo oeste) y tu juegas en el papel de Freddy Pharkas, un antiguo pistolero que se convirtió en farmaceuta.

Freddy estaba viviendo su vida en paz cuando de repente Coarsegold fue amenazada por serios problemas los cuales los ciudadanos fueron incapaces de detener. Depende de ti salvar a Coarsegold utilizando solo tus habilidades y algo de creatividad. Durante el juego, necesitarás tener el libro "The Modern Day Book of Health and Hygiene" el cual viene con el juego original, pero lo puedes descargar desde la sección de extras (está titulado como Manual).

Los gráficos son agradables y la música se adapta perfectamente a la configuración del juego. Los personajes (los acercamientos) están bien dibujados y los fondos también lucen muy bien.

Si eres un verdadero fanático de Sierra no deberías perderte este juego, y si no lo eres, tampoco te lo deberías perder. Es sencillamente un juego bueno, divertido y entretenido. (o como la Computer Gaming World lo llamo: "La resplandeciente silla para caballos de los juegos de computadora").
