First off I would just like to let you know that I have recently read the original books by Micheal Crichton, so the story is fresh in my head. I have been looking for a good Jurassic Park game to play, and this seems to be it. Anybody who hasn't seen the movie or read the book will be a little confused when they first play it. The game starts out with your character standing next to a burnt out jeep, you have a gun in your hand and a splitting headache. You have one thing to do - save the kids that were in the jeep when you was attacked by that terrifying T-Rex.

The game's graphics are very nice for the 1993 era of games. Crisp characters, nice scenery and well drawn dinosaurs make the game very pleasing to the eye. Also the overall menu presentation is nice with nicely drawn themed boxes. One thing I disliked about the presentation game was the fact that dinosaurs dissappear after they have been shot. Although this is common among most older games it still annoys me.

The sound in Jurrassic Park isn't that great. It gets annoying after a while and doesn't always run smoothly in DOSbox. However it is rarther good when you first start playing. It's very atmospheric and suits what's happening... after all you are being hunted down by escaped dinosaurs. It's a spooky track that was probably very impressive when you first played the game on an old pc or arcade machine.

Gameplay is the most important thing when it comes to games (well duh!). This game was very confusing at first as I wasn't sure where my health bar was or what to do. After a few minutes of playing and experimentation i figured everything out. And off I went exploring my surrondings armed with my lighting bolt shooting thingy. Which after a while evolved into a gun with a limited supply of bullets and a neat little sound. These weapons are useful as there are a wide range of enemies ranging from deadly pink flowers to fericous dinosaurs. I don't want to tell you too much about the various enemies as it ruins the fun of seeing the latest dinosaur of which you must avoid. I have to admit it all became a bit repetitive after a while - run, shoot, evade, shoot, run... but it is fun at first. The parts of the game I played mainly consisted of walking around and shooting but that i have heard that there is a second section of the game with different gameplay. I didn't reach this far in the game as I got bored after a while and decided to stop playing.

Overall I enjoyed the game but did think it was a bit weak in places, mainly the sound. This game will more than likely get old fast for anybody except die hard fans of Jurassic Park and those who are suffering from severe cases of boredom, as it gets very repetitive. I do however recommend you download the game if you have a few hours to kill or are a fan of the JP movies and books.
