Just like Chupa Chups tried to make their products more popular by creating Zool, 7-up created Cool Spot to promote their soda drink. Even though the game doesn’t make me go out and buy insane amounts of 7-up beverage, I still enjoy the game for what it is: a simple and fun jump and run game.
Most of the game code has been placed in creating the different animations for Cool Spot. Watching him go is enough for me, but the game itself is also great. Just be sure to let him get bored so that you really can watch the animations go wild. The rest of the graphics is also pretty and some of the backgrounds are simply awesome. The monsters are also fun and even though they look slow, this game is not an easy stroll in the park. Each monster has it’s unique attack pattern, and some of them requires several shots before they die.
The object of the game is to complete each level with the highest possible coolness factor, and to free your friends at the end of each mission. Contrary to other platform games out there, this one is not as straight-forward as it might seem. You will have to look everywhere to progress through the game.
All in all this game is absolutely something to try out.
