Alien Incident is a quirky 2D science fiction adventure that all ages will enjoy. The puzzles are not difficult or illogical, the gameplay and interface are very straightforward and the story is fun and non-violent. The graphics and music just get better and better the further into the game you progress.
The perspective of the game is third person. You play the part of young Benjamin, a cool dude who lives with an eccentric scientist, Uncle Alberto Einstone. However, during a cosmic experiment involving the discovery of wormholes, Alberto is kidnapped by evil aliens, who look like clones of Casper the Friendly Ghost. Your mission is to avoid being captured yourself and to rescue your uncle and, of course, save the world from the threat posed by these alien invaders.
I couldn't get the game to run in either Windows XP or with VDMSound, but it ran without any problems in DOSBox. The only slight hitch was that when loading a saved game it would ask if I was sure I wanted to proceed, as there was no saved game. Just answering 'yes' will allow you to resume the saved game without further delay. The interface couldn't be simpler. Below the game screen there are rows of squares which contain your inventory items. To the far left are the arrows that allow you to scroll through your items, and to the right is a disk icon that you click on to save/load/quit or go to the options screen. To interact with any item or person on-screen, you simply click the right mouse button on them. To access the inventory items, you just left click on them.
I really enjoyed every moment of this game. I get bored very quickly if there isn't something interesting happening and if I don't feel involved, but this game held me captive from its enigmatic start, and it became ever more engrossing as the story unravelled.
The opening movie isn't included (I'm assuming there is one), but if you read the opening story in the walkthrough, you'll be brought up to scratch very quickly.
Highly recommended for all ages and levels of experience. I rate this game a four.
Before you can play the game, you must first configure it with setup.exe. I found choosing the Sound Blaster 16 option worked well with DOSBox. Then, when the game is configured properly, you start it by selecting a file called AI. The game should start and play smoothly from then on.
Short and easy, but fun enough Posted on: 2012-12-29 by haggar This one is rather easy, with logical puzzles, fun too and a bit short. So I enjoyed in it and finished it fast. Rated it as 4. That's it :) |
